Hot water from faucet smells and cloudy.
When i turn on the hot water for the first time after several hours of non-use, the first of the hot water smells of chemicals and is cloudy. It then clears after 10 seconds of running but I am not sure if the smell goes. I have recently spent over 700 on my boiler changing various parts to get it going again, so I no…

Water collecting on doorstep inside
Hi. Seem to have got a problem with what appears to be condensation. We had a similar problem last yr but don't think it was this bad. Seems to have been made worse by having a new PVC door fitted. Water is collecting in pools on the doorstep, having to put paper towels and tea towels down so it doesn't wet the carpet. Is…

Hi, I've recently had my TV wall mounted, wires plastered into the wall and freshly papered - it's looking great. Colour of woodwork
All of the woodwork (including internal doors) in my house is painted in cream satin. Yesterday in a flash of inspiration I thought it'd look better if the skirting boards were white - today it dawned on me what a massive job it'd be to change everything! So my question is would you: A - leave it cream satin B - change it…

Re-rendering advice please
I am thinking of having my house re-rendered. Mid-terraced, built 1905. Currently spar dashed, same as neighbours. Quite exposed, especially at front (west facing). Is it better to have all the old rendering removed first (expensive?). Or is it ok to just "score" the existing render with an angle grinder and then spread…

Replacing Pin on Watch Strap - how to?
Hi, I have a very old Ellesse watch with a stainless steel bracelet. One of the pins which hold the links together must have finally worn away and fell out. I happen to have the exact same watch (non-working). Would I be able to "knock" one of the pins out of that bracelet and fix it into the broken watch? How…
