How to string up a pulley clothes airer

Hi everyone, I'm finally, after 20 odd years of owning this clothes airer going to put it up!
Does anyone know how these string though? I can only find ones on the internet without pulleys and the middle one is a mystery. I remember taking the thing out of another house so I'm sure it all goes together.

I have a double pulley and a single pulley to screw into the joist which seems normal, I have 4 poles.

Any ideas appreciated!

There's no rush, if you have already had the item for 20 years.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
  • Thank, I found those instructions, mine is different from any I can find on the internet though - the pulleys are attached to the end bits and there is another middle bit that none of the others seem to have.
It's in the hallway, in the way now so it stands a chance of being put up this year :-)

I am glad it is not just me that buys things and doesn't use them for ages. Mine is a large mirror i bought about 12 months or so ago and have talked about putting it up :)
  • If it's any consolation, we have a large nail in a beam in our house which we put there for a reason (now lost in the mists of time), 34 years ago when renovating...and despite its obsolescence, we still haven't got round to removing it. We keep resolving to do so, but some minor crisis always intervenes and we never manage it.

Anyway, the clothes rack...I couldn't tell you how to put the thing up, as I have servants for that kind of thing, but I do know that you can do without the middle yoke doo-dah.

The third (middle) one is a red herring - you don't need it and it will just interfere with the available hanging space.
I've just installed an 8' long one for a customer and it used only two 'hangers'.

The pulleys on the hangers aren't really needed to be used as pulleys, unless you have massive loads (weight) to be hung. Just terminate each end of the rope around each pulley and tie off.
