Existing door (approx. 20 years old) is double up and over timber effect garage door. The door is, generally in direct sun contact and has become dull over the years. Damp walls from flood/leak in flat above - what do I do?
I know I posted something similar the other day but I have no idea where to start with this. I've rented for years and finally bought my own place six months ago. I was aware in general terms that flats were prone to the occasional water damage from other flats in the block (burst pipes and leaks and suchlike) but wasn't…

Anyone Know About Water Treatment Systems?
Bit of a specialist one, but I'm looking for unbiased guidance on water treatment plants to replace a septic tank which, although functioning fine, isn't supported by a viable drainage field. I am familiar with some of the sites. like that of WTE, which detail quite a lot of options, but I'd be interested to hear of…

Will using a dehumidifier make home cheaper to heat?
Been thinking of getting a dehumidifier as we have condensation on my windows and small bits of mould in corners of rooms. I have also read that as it will make the air in my house dryer, this will in turn make it cheaper to centrally heat my home as the air will be dry? Can anyone confirm this?

I am about to replace the bedroom curtains and trying to decide the best arrangement. DH likes the window open at night. We live on a main road so traffic can be noisy especially early morning. What could I install to make my downstairs less open plan?
I recently bought a house and I have discovered it has dreadful insulation. The downstairs has a living room and dining room that are adjacent with a large rectangular archway between them. The stairs are also in the dining room, meaning any heat downstairs eventually goes up the stairs. What I want to do is block off the…
