Anyone Know About Water Treatment Systems?

Bit of a specialist one, but I'm looking for unbiased guidance on water treatment plants to replace a septic tank which, although functioning fine, isn't supported by a viable drainage field.

I am familiar with some of the sites. like that of WTE, which detail quite a lot of options, but I'd be interested to hear of people's experiences, either in installing/servicing these systems, or just in running one. They seem to range from simple non-electric to fairly complex.

I'm particularly keen to hear about Vortex and Filter Pod, but any info would be useful. :)

Hi i am in a similar position . lack of land to leach too. bco and builder recommended a biorock system non electric i think. and with permissions/ certifictate and yes payment it will be discharged to small brook/stream. Claims are it will be cleaner than what is in the brook.

    Thanks, I will Google Biorock.

We have a small brook that would take the outflow. I realise that there will have to be certification, even though I could carry on using the unregistered leach field I have...at least until 'they' catch up with me!

Did you go ahead with either of these systems? We are looking at them too. Just wondering what your experience has been if you did.

No, I replaced the drainage field, as I'm renovating, so it was suddenly very convenient to have a huge hole in my field, rather than pay £280 for 6 cu yd skips! ;)

Long term I might yet have a problem, as the people I share the drainage field with (not the tank) aren't the most co-operative bunch. There is nowhere else suitable if this soakaway is ruined by them again, so in that eventuality I'd go water treatment plant and leave them to it.
