Bedroom window

I am about to replace the bedroom curtains and trying to decide the best arrangement.
DH likes the window open at night. We live on a main road so traffic can be noisy especially early morning. (where are people going at 5am on a Sunday? )
If I can't persuade him to shut the window, I need the best solution to block the noise and the light.
Any recommendations please?

Car boot sale to buy some black-out curtains to keep the light out . . .(where are people going at 5am on a Sunday? )
Not sure what you'd do about the noise though, with the windows open -
ear plugs maybe?0 -
Lol
I am thinking about getting a blind AND curtains, for double insulation, to try to counteract the open window. Would that help?0 -
It might muffle the sound a bit I suppose.0

...and for those that are around at 5am on a Sunday morning , they tend to be the ones coming back from somewhere, not (mostly) going.Am the proud holder of an Honours Degree

You'll not get rid of the sound of road traffic with a blind/curtain combo.
Just wait til he falls asleep then shut the window.0 -
I'm the opposite, wait til he falls asleep and open the window. Our new windows must be good as he didn't hear the puppy barking her head off last night in the garden0
