Painting fibreglass garage door help please.

Existing door (approx. 20 years old) is double up and over timber effect garage door. The door is, generally in direct sun contact and has become dull over the years. I would like to paint the door to match other (wooden) doors on the house.

A bit of initial research indicates a good clean followed by an acetone wipe over then a GRP primer followed by a GRP top coat - generally along the lines of painting a fibreglass boat.

My problem is that I want to match the doors on the house and other doors are painted in light green gloss.

I had in mind washing the door, cleaning with acetone then lightly sanding then using a PVA followed by primer (of some kind!) then just using the gloss paint I have but concerned the finish will flake/peel off not last long.

Your help/advise please.
