Replacing Pin on Watch Strap - how to?

Hi,
I have a very old Ellesse watch with a stainless steel bracelet. One of the pins which hold the links together must have finally worn away and fell out.
I happen to have the exact same watch (non-working). Would I be able to "knock" one of the pins out of that bracelet and fix it into the broken watch? How easy/difficult would this be to do? Which tools should I use (don't have specialist jewellery ones, just DIY).
I'm not sure whether these pins are designed to be taken out and put back in again, or do they break if you take them out?
If I can't do it myself would the like of Timpsons do it for me and any idea re cost?
Any tips gratefully received. Many thx in advance.

It depends on the strap, but if it is anything like my husband's, it will save you a lot of time and stress to take it to Timpsons as they have the correct tools. He spend hours tying to do it himself and then gave up and took it to Timpsons and it took them a couple of minutes.0

a lot of the watch strap pins are spring loaded and all they need is a pin or a very small screwdriver to get the pins out, if the strap on your doner watch is complete and in good condition it may be easier to replace the whole strap rather than just a section of the strap0
