Unregistered smart meter
I had a smart meter fitted by Scottish Power 4 days after I had left them for Tonik Energy. It was not registered on the national register, Scottish Power refuse to do anything as I am no longer there customer and Tonik say they need info from them to be able to register it. Anyone else been in this situation?

Eon DD price hikes
I switched to Eon as part of the MSE Energy Club because it was supposedly going to make my payments cheaper. The payments have been more than my old payments, in part because of the Warm Home Discount which hasn't been applied and which apparently now won't be available to everyone anyway. Despite registering interest and…

I've searched google et al & can't find the answer.Does the person on the voucher letter have to attend the post office in person or can someone collect on their behalf. Specifically the account is in my wife's name only & therefore the voucher's in her name. She is disabled & can't always get out. Many thanks in advance,MSG

3 rate electricity meter?
I own a very small one bed flat which is rented out. This May a new ( actually old, second hand, un-zeroed) meter was installed. Briefly.... The tenants have received a huge electricity bill which cannot be right and I have been dealing with scottish power on their behalf to try to sort it out. There are three readings on…

Should I wait until Spring / Summer to change my energy tariff?
Hello, I just got my first house and have already compared energy plans. Initially I'm with British Gas on a 12 month homefix tariff with no early exit fees. I already have my electric bills showing , but have to wait 4 months to get my first gas bill. When I tried comparing plans using my current electric cost and gas use…

Hello, was just looking for some advice I'm currently renting in a 2 bedroom basment flat with all electric non economy 7 meter, and no storage heaters. Large Gas Problem
Evening all, I have a rather complex problem with my gas supply. It’s been ongoing since May and it’s draining the life out of me if I’m honest! I’m going to try to explain so bear with me!! 2nd Feb we buy a new build property. British Gas are the builder’s supplier. The mistake I make at this point was while signing the…

Deemed contract. Think I have done something wrong?
I moved into my new property on the 22nd of November. I didn't know who the energy supplier was so I just used my old supplier OVO when I cancelled the energy on my old property. They are switching on the 13th December. I did receive a letter from Eon addressed to the occupier saying that they have heard that the original…

EON fixed tariff.
My housemate sorted the bills out for the current house we're living in and picked up a fixed year tariff. We are paying £43 a month and have been for around 15 months. An EON guy came for a meter reading a couple of weeks ago and suddenly we've been slapped with a £4,000 bill. My housemate was under the impression it was…

Prepayment meters - newbie
Hello all following on from my other thread (moving into flat alone, first time living on my own) I have been given some great advice - and have found out which supplier the flat is currently on (it is OVO, never heard of them) My question is - are pre payment meters a bad thing? I am swaying towards them in a bid to keep…

Scottish Power threatening debt recovery without telling me how much I owe
Scottish Power have my Jan - April (end of March) energy usage at £585, which works out to £195 a month. For a single person in a one bedroom property that seems excessive. My position is that the calculations are faulty. It turns out that the meter reading they used when my new credit meter was installed in January (I had…

Deemed supply
Our lease on commercial premises started April 2014. We signed up with E-on but bills seemed too low. They had been reading the most obvious but wrong meter. The "wrong" meter had no outlet so was unuseable anyway. E-on said we need do nothing more. Letters arrived for the landlords from British Gas amongst others and were…

can landlord restrict tenant's choice of energy provider
In the MSE of 27/11/18, the following appears:Renters can switch without landlords' permission. If you pay the energy bills directly (as opposed to your landlord via an all-in-one rent payment), you are allowed to switch without permission, though you may want to inform them out of courtesy. The only exception is if you…

Help... why are energy companies not billing me
I use the cheap energy club and believe in switching but since having a smart meter, which has never been smart and is dumb, with 4 companies now there has been a delay of about 8 months and a lot of frustrated chasing to get it sorted. I have ended up using the ombudsman twice! It is very hard in these circumstances to…

Appear to be using a lot of gas? Can someone take a look?
I have just moved into a 2/3 bed bungalow from a 1 bed apartment & I expected to use a lot more energy especially as my father moved in & is there throughout the day. Not sure what the boiler is apart from it looks pretty old & it is a Baxi. There is also a water tank in one of the cupboards which I am guessing is for…

Under quoting to get new customers
I've just changed energy supplier from XX to YY. YY provided an estimated monthly bill of £124. Less than a month into this new contract, my account was on their website and suggesting i need to change the DD up to £194. Between signing up and the happening, there had been no readings submitted. Whats going on? Is this a…

nPower 3 year fix
I signed up for this in the summer. Certainly wasn't the cheapest, but only put my bill up from £54 to £68 per month. Question is, with all the recent price hikes, is this now a good deal, or still a relatively poor one. I don't mind really, getting on a bit and switching continually was getting too much of a chore. The…
