Deemed contract. Think I have done something wrong?
Options
I moved into my new property on the 22nd of November. I didn't know who the energy supplier was so I just used my old supplier OVO when I cancelled the energy on my old property. They are switching on the 13th December. I did receive a letter from Eon addressed to the occupier saying that they have heard that the original tenants have left & I should phone them up to use them for my energy but I haven't phoned them. I just assumed I would be switched over.
I now understand that I will be on a deemed contract & I am probably been charged a lot for the energy I am currently using by Eon. What should I do? Should I phone Eon up & tell them I am the new tenant & can they put me onto their cheapest tariff & then let the switch over go through or do I cancel OVO & stay with Eon? I am confused & don't want to be over charged on a high tariff.

Hiya,
If Eon are the current supplier you will have been on a deemed contract with them from the date you took over responsibility for paying the bills. This will be on their standard variable tariff.
You’ll need to give them a bell and let them know your move in readings, name etc so they can set up a temporary account. Then send OVO your switch reads around 13 Dec, they’ll then in turn send these to Eon.
Eon will then bill from the date you became responsible up until the 13 Dec.0 -
Yes of course you need to register with Eon.
Then your switch will go through.Be happy, it's the greatest wealth0 -
