Should I wait until Spring / Summer to change my energy tariff?
Options
Hello, I just got my first house and have already compared energy plans.
Initially I'm with British Gas on a 12 month homefix tariff with no early exit fees. I already have my electric bills showing , but have to wait 4 months to get my first gas bill.
When I tried comparing plans using my current electric cost and gas use in kWh (it shows me this but not the price yet), the only plan that would have saved me a lot, about £120 also needed me to install a smart meter by August 2019 which I don't plan on doing by then. Also another one that came up saving me £77 also said 'not eligible for warm home discount', so I looked this up and was eligible with British Gas, and I got it and will be paid £140 by March 2019 anyway.
So I'm thinking I should wait to change in the warmer months as I think energy prices come down then, and stick with my starter fix until March for now? Also I'm not sure if I can still switch if British Gas are now giving me the £140 discount, so I'll probably wait until the end of March to get this discount first anyway.
TLDR - Should I wait until Spring to switch to a locked plan with early exit fees as energy prices tend to be higher over winter and lower in spring / summer?
Thanks.

Energy prices don't really change that much in the summer, the only real thing that changes is the amount of it you use and it is quite normal for credit accounts to be quite high in credit by the back end of August as it will get eaten as things turn colder.0

You think prices come down then you wait .
Your bet will win or lose pay more pay less .
Prices do not go up in the winter and down in summer .0
