Water saving freebies
Most Water Compaies are offering free water saving devices. I sent for a gubbins that is put in your cistern to save water when you flush. However, they are only useful for those cisterns that hold 7 litres or more and do not have a dual flush system. This info is not available when you order one from your local provider.

Although the heating was off as I never used to go on holiday in the winter. Now when I go on holiday, if in the winter or there might be frost I leave the heating on 24hrs at about 10deg C but…

Does this british gas bill seem excessive?
Hello My Mum is with British Gas Price Promise July 2014. I've just submitted a meter reading and it came up with a warning that it's significantly higher than they anticipated and to double check it, but I did and the reading is correct. I've copied and pasted the estimated bill below, and from my calculations there will…

Insane gas usage, how can I reduce it?
My gas usage seems to be about 4x the national average and I'm struggling to see why. We used 12134 last quarter. I have verified that the meter reading is correct. We have an Imperial meter, the numbers add up. We are with Scottish Power and this equates to about £2300/year, which according to the comparison sites is…

British gas put us on an expensive standard tarrif
I moved into a house last April. A few weeks after this, I received a letter addressed to me from British Gas, saying that they had set up my gas and electricity account. I had not asked for this, but assumed that the letting agent asked for it to be set up in my name. There was no mention on it of the tariff, and stupidly…

Just moved house
Hi all. I have just moved into a new house. My old place didn't have gas but the new has gas and electric. Am I best to combine these or keep them separate? The calculator thing on this site seems to assume I already have both suppliers so I'm a bit confused as to the results. Can anyone simplify it for me? TIA

Can I switch provider while my npower dispute is still going on?
I'm one of those customers distressed by the npower bill fiasco last year. As you may remember, the problems date back to a new computer system at npower. On transferring customers’ details, a number of bills and statements were not sent, while some direct debits simply weren’t set up properly. I have made a complaint,…
