I've had on-going issues with npower but recently received 2 bills using different formulas to convert the gas units to kwh. The first formula was: cubic metres x calorific value x correction factor / kwh conversion factor. The second was 100s of cubic feet used x conversion to m3 x calorific value x correction factor / kwh conversion factor. Basically by using the second method npower have doubled my gas bill. I was on a fixed rate with them until the end of March 2014. Has anyone seen anything similar on their bills?

Have you had a meter change ? Your meter will be either metric or imperial, check it, it will have either cu m / m3 or cu ft on the dial. You should only be billed according to what is on the front of the meter. Utilities, especially NPower since they had a billing computer meltdown, have a knack of getting this wrong or changing it mid term .0

The meter has changed, although its the same type of meter(npower had been taking readings from my neighbours meter) I'll check it in the morning. Thanks0

If the meter is metric the sum you mention will approximate out to 11.2. If imperial the result is about 32. You multiply the difference in meter readings by this number to find out the number of chargeable kWhs.0

Its likely one billing calc is for the old meter (imperial), the second for the new meterDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
