Just moved house

Hi all. I have just moved into a new house. My old place didn't have gas but the new has gas and electric. Am I best to combine these or keep them separate? The calculator thing on this site seems to assume I already have both suppliers so I'm a bit confused as to the results. Can anyone simplify it for me?
TIA

Maybe you have already done this - On moving to a new home you should report your occupancy and meter readings to the present supplier(s). You are on a 'deemed' contract with them as soon as you move in.
So far as getting both Elec & Gas from one supplier or two, it's all down to how you as an individual use energy - Pop your figures into a Switch site for both Gas& Elec, then re-enter your figures on a Gas only, then Elec only basis and compare the numbers0 -
As above-you do already have both suppliers-you can't switch away until you register with them first and submit opening readings.
For the comp sites, use any existing tariff, it doesn't matter-the point is to get the comparative data for the currently available tariffs. No free lunch, and no free laptop
