What do you switch off when going on holiday?
Options
When I used to go on holiday I never used to switch anything off.
All is if I was just going out for the day, not 2 weeks holiday.
Although the heating was off as I never used to go on holiday in the winter.
Now when I go on holiday, if in the winter or there might be frost I leave the heating on 24hrs at about 10deg C but turn off the hot water and pilot light (it is separate from the heating but still gas)
If I go on holiday in the summer I turn the gas off at the meter.
With the electric I turn off and unplug everything except the fridge and freezer and the Sky box to record all the programmes that I would miss.
I also turn off any mains alarm clock radios, music centres, even the clock on the cooker.
I unplug my computer as once when my daughter came to check on the house my computer had turned itself on, something to do with wake on lan, and also my VirginMedia superhub.
A bit extreme, or do others do that?

That's what we do, If the fridge is nearly empty then we turn that off as well and take the food with us (we caravan a lot). The Sky box stays on and I've got a couple of surveillance cameras connected to the internet so the router & powerline adaptors stays on as well. Everything else (including the cooker, microwave, washing machine, dryer, dishwasher and any chargers, computer, TVs etc) are switched off at the wall or unplugged. In fact we do that every day when we are at home - if they aren't actually in use they are isolated, either by switching off or we use remote switches. Nothing is left on standby.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0

Don't switch off or unplug anything.0

When I was a kid we used to switch gas/water/elec at the main. Nowadays I switch the CH off at the timer, but leave the pilot on. Most appliances are switched off at the socket, except the fridge, freezer recorder which are usually at work while I'm away.0

We reduce our consumption by 5-6kw a day by switching stuff off when we are away and we often go away for 3-4 weeks at a time so 21 x 5 = £12 or so. Not a lot but over two or three holidays a year it's £3 a month off the bill and a reduction in the fire risk.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0

Everything but the two PVR's and fridge freezer get turned off.
Don't see the point in leaving anything else on.0 -
We only leave the telephones, fridge and freezer turned on. Everything else is off.0
