Electricity Meter Change
Hi MSE'rs I've recently taken back ownership of my property from a tenant. Upon checking the meters I see the electricity meter has been changed to a pre-payment meter. I want to get this changed back to a standard tariff meter. I called the supplier today Scottish Power, who kindly informed me to have the pre-payment…

meter change required, but need to change supplier
My meter reader company, meter plus, have apparently been instructed by my electricity provider, to change my meter to digital soon. But before this happens, I am changing electricity provider, once I have changed provider/supplier, if the old meter still remains, will they also need to change this meter, it hasn't been in…

Help! Where did this eon charge come from?
So I am a student studying in London, and was renting an apartment for one year. I paid my Eon bill every 3 months up until I left the the premise. It was just electricity but what in my Landlords name. I do not have any proof of payment though because I am a student and so unorganized that when moving back into student…

Switching process
Sorry if this is an obvious question! We currently get gas from e.on and electricity from npower. We are switching to Scottish Power and applied on the website and they have said "we'll be in touch" What happens now. Presumably they send out a form we have to sign and send back?

noob
I moved into my new flat 2-3 weeks ago and being my first flat I've only just got around to sorting out gas/elec. (in my defence my estate agent said she would contact the suppliers so I was expecting/waiting for some kind of correspondence from BG, EDF etc) Anyway, this morning I've called around and discovered that my…

Paying arrears that are not your fault
Hi I need some advice. I switched my electricity meters from pre-pay to billed two years ago(two meters due to being 2 flats previously). When the first bill arrived it appeared to be only for one meter so called up my electricity supplier and asked them about the other meters bill, they said it wasn't anything to do with…

Refused to pay quarterly....
We've always had a key meter, and want to go to quarterly billing, but due to British Gas not being able to find all our reconds, they won't allow us to do this as they think money is owed, now we cant get eletric unless money has been added to the key, so there is no debt.... is there any where i can make a complaint? or…

Working out gas bill
Just in the process of switching and haven't had the price per unit yet. Don't know why they said they'd tell me once the gas a/c is up and running. (Southern Electric.) I am absolutely useless at working with numbers and tried to do a search and came up with http://energylinx.co.uk/gas_meter_conversion.html. Now this…

EDF standing charges
I get both gas and electric from EDF. I'm a low user being a single man who is only at home at weekends and late evening (when I go straight to bed! Boring I know but that's my works pattern). Anyway can I get EDF to drop the standing charge on my account as its often more than the energy used?

Eon to EDF changeover from hell / 3 years of gas bills
Hi all, This is my first post, so please accept my apologies if it’s been mentioned before. I believe this is somewhat of a real paradox, and I’m hoping someone can help me out by offering some experience or perspective. I moved into my house 3 years ago, and transferred all my Gas and Electricity to EON. I used them for…

Considering Switching To Electric From Gas. Any Thoughts?
Having just moved in my new house (yippee), I am seriously considering swapping the gas heating system for an electrical one and move to economy. I used Dimplex brick heaters in my old flat and they did provide with a substantial background heating which is not the case for gas heating it seems. Furthermore, I've been told…

Best tariff for electric only flat
I have a one bed flat which is fitted with panel heaters and I am at work all day. Currently i am on economy 7 but i am not sure this makes sense as I spend all day at work so am only around in the evenings. The only energy I use at night is washing machine/tumble dryer once a week and heating water. I think most of my…

Confused by e-on direct debit
Up until September I was paying £75 per month for my electricity with e-on (gas is on a pre-payment meter) I have built up a credit of £90ish and for financial reasons had to cancel the dd so that Octobers payment did not go out (e-on were fine with this). When I went online to reset the dd it defaulted to payment on 1st…

Eon are ridiculous
When my boyfriend moved into his rented property he registered with eon for gas & electricity combined. Recently he has been receiving letters for somebody else from eon so he has just been returning them back unopened. An engineer came round to check his electricity meter a couple of months ago and my boyfriend gave him…

Switch Keeps Tripping
Was watching tv earlier and the power to the sockets stopped. I went downstairs and put flicked the (fuse)switch back on and everything powered up again. 30 seconds later it had gone off again. I've narrowed the problem down to the tumble dryer. Everything on is fine but the second the tumble dryer gets plugged in the…

Is this a reasonable amount to pay for Gas and Electric?
Hi I was previously paying £25 Electric and £34 gas every fortnight, this included arrears, I have now come out of arrears so I have rang to ask if I could pay any less, they advised me I should keep electric the same, however could reduce gas to £25, which means every month I will pay £50 Gas and £50 Electricity £100 in…
