I moved into my new flat 2-3 weeks ago and being my first flat I've only just got around to sorting out gas/elec. (in my defence my estate agent said she would contact the suppliers so I was expecting/waiting for some kind of correspondence from BG, EDF etc)
Anyway, this morning I've called around and discovered that my elec is supplied by BG and my gas by E.on (which is not what the estate agent said, but anyway...)
I've kept readings over the past 2-3 weeks and have worked out approximate usage figures and put them into uswitch.com and am told BG's websaver 4 tarrif is the cheapest for dual fuel.
I called BG to sign up and they said that I need to contact E.on to register my details for gas before switching my gas to BG. I have done this and now have an acc no with E.on and should expect a bill within a month.
I now want to go ahead and sign up for BG Websaver 4 tarrif online (to get quidco) but is that possible? do I need to register my elec with BG first before going online to sign up for websaver 4?
Thanks
Sorry for being such a noob, I just don't understand the process
(sorry for the uninformative thread title, that was just the temporary title but I forgot to change it before hitting submit)

when ever you move into a property you do need to register with the current supplier before you can start switching process, as the switching process takes approx 6 weeks, not only because you still need to pay for the gas in that period but also there may be issues of safety if you needed work done to the meter for any reason,I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0

Cheers.
Well I went to register with BG for electric and am told that the last tenants account ended on an estimated meter reading which is vastly different the actual reading I took when I moved in and therefore the system won't accept my reading.
Apparently it's going to take about 8 weeks for this to get corrected before I can actually set up an account0
