Electricity Meter Change
Options
Hi MSE'rs
I've recently taken back ownership of my property from a tenant. Upon checking the meters I see the electricity meter has been changed to a pre-payment meter. I want to get this changed back to a standard tariff meter.
I called the supplier today Scottish Power, who kindly informed me to have the pre-payment meter exchanged back to a standard meter will cost £44 plus £150 deposit (which they hold for 1 year).
Im not happy about having to pay to have the meter changed back, and wanted to know if there's anyway around this, perhaps by changing supplier or do they all charge to change meters?
Thanks

If you phone up a lot of supplier they'll switch you over for free.0

Can you not recover the £44 from your last tenant's deposit, assuming it was done without your agreement? No free lunch, and no free laptop0
