Best tariff for electric only flat
Options
I have a one bed flat which is fitted with panel heaters and I am at work all day. Currently i am on economy 7 but i am not sure this makes sense as I spend all day at work so am only around in the evenings. The only energy I use at night is washing machine/tumble dryer once a week and heating water. I think most of my energy is used in the evenings and weekends for cooking and watching tv etc. My heating is panel heaters so there seems no point having them on at night as I am not there during the day. Is there an evening and weekend tariff deal? Are the panel heaters the best thing to use or am I better off using a hot air blower heater?
thanks

Unless you are the sort of weirdo who keeps your heating on when you are in bed you should cancel the Economy 7 tariff immediately. The cheap rate for E7 is only in the middle of the night, not the evening and you are, of course, paying significantly more than you should be for the energy you do use.
Have a look on the comparison calculators for the cheapest standard electricity (check the electricity only tabs on the results pages.) The good news is that many tariffs target dual fuel households so bargains can be had with cheap electricity.
A panel heater and a blower heater will cost the same to heat a room to the same ambient temperature. But for temporary use (eg if only in for supper and going out after an hour) a blower may be more effective since you can just position it and take the chill off where you're sitting for ten minutes.0 -
Would economy 10 be a sensible choice as thats what a few people in the block of flats are on?0

only the local supplier can provide the E10, you'll never be able to switch and they probably won't install new meters free.
as for whether E7 is the right choice, the only real way to check if it works for you is to check the readings on your bill & then compare the cost of the same (total) usage on a standard meter. In theory and most often in practice, E7 is seldom the best option but there are always exceptions to rules.0 -
... Is there an evening and weekend tariff deal? ...
Have a look at the Eco 20:20 tariff from EDF.
But only choose this if it gives you the best value. Use the comparison sites in the Resource bar above to see what is best. You can even check E7 Vs non E7 costs using them.
