Considering Switching To Electric From Gas. Any Thoughts?

Having just moved in my new house (yippee), I am seriously considering swapping the gas heating system for an electrical one and move to economy. I used Dimplex brick heaters in my old flat and they did provide with a substantial background heating which is not the case for gas heating it seems.
Furthermore, I've been told that I will need to do an annual checkup for gas and with gas prices going up, now might be the time for me to invest in electric.
Anyone got some thoughts?

  • No simple answer here.

On a strict comparison on cost per kwh gas is around 5/12ths the price of electricity.

If the property is your own, while there is no law that states you HAVE to get an annual checkup it is a good practice to get one done at least every 2 years on a newish boiler & every year on an old one..
