Power Flush
I ahve posted before about my power flush and British Gas. I have written to them complaining about what I think was unnecessary work (cost £430). They did write back saying give them 10 days and they will contact me again. They didn't and so I wrote to them again asking for a full refund as I feel that the work was…

Do you need to leave the heating on when your away?
I was away last week on a short break in Germany for 3 nights. As you know in the UK there has been loads of snow. I've just found out that while I was away my parents came round at 9am every day and switched the heating on and then back at 3.30pm to switch it off. They said they were worrying about the pipes freezing and…

British Gas / Scottish Gas Homecare Plan
Hi all, I was hoping I could start a thread here to discuss the British Gas (also known as Scottish Gas) Homecare Plan, and in particular the Central Heating Care part of the plan. I am in dispute with them at the moment regarding said policy I took out with them 6 months ago, whereby they are refusing to accept liability…

New Gas Prices
Is there a price comparison company if you are on Business Gas? We run a small B & B business. We are a high gas consumer because of our central heating systems and we have an indoor pool. We are not business rated and do not actually earn enough between us to pay tax. We have just had our new contract fron Powergen, which…

New Energy Charges
I was listening to Martin on the Jeremy Vine programme today and found his advice very informative. :money: His advice was that if you are already signed up for dual utilities, not to jump in feet first and change suppliers because they will ALL increase eventually. I get both my gas and electricity from Scottish Gas…

Hi Guys Has anyone else who's just done the switching process recieved a call from the energy helpline apologising for the fact that it's not been processed yet and offering alternatives? I only did the switch thingy on 27th Feb and was under the impression it could take weeks - so was somewhat discombobulated to get this…

Q about radiator & cost of running
Hey all :) Quick q, for ya! My OH and I are trying to keep heating costs down - esp with the price rise, so in the past have only had a couple of radiators on in the house. However, I was told by someone that it wouldn't cost anymore to have others on low, as it takes the same amount of power to pump to all? Now, is that…

another thought about gas/elec
Just read pawpurrs's article about gas/elec. I think it is good. I think it is may be even a little bit better to add bit readings when you report yours. e.g. you actually used 100 unit and they estimated that you used 80. So you can call or write to them saying that you used 110 unit. the extra 10 unit will be on the…

Switching from BG/nPower to EDF Online
I just put our details into 3 of the price comparison sites and all 3 come up with EDF Online tariff 3.1 (Seeboard, London Energy and SWEB) as the cheapest supplier followed by Powergen online. As a virgin switcher though before putting it through I have a couple of questions. 1) Our Gas bill is paid by DD and we received…
