Power Flush

I ahve posted before about my power flush and British Gas. I have written to them complaining about what I think was unnecessary work (cost £430). They did write back saying give them 10 days and they will contact me again. They didn't and so I wrote to them again asking for a full refund as I feel that the work was unnecessary. They are not responding. What will my next step be. Do I have to get an expert opinion to get a report on the power flush to show it was unnecessary?

I don't see how you are going to get an expert opinion to show it was unnecessary now that the work is done. How can any "expert" definitively say that your system was not sludged up prior to the flushing?

Your best bet is to keep on at British Gas in the hope that they will refund you at least part of the money you have forked out, rather than throw good money after bad paying more "experts" for an opinion that no court in the land is going to uphold.

If on the other hand British Gas guaranteed you that the powerflushing would solve your problem and it hasn't, you may have a case, but no doubt they will have a get out clause written somewhere in the contract.

Thanks. I will now write to them stating that the power flush was sold to me as the answer to the problem of a radiator needing bleeding frequently. If they continue to ignore my letters I guess my action lies in the small claims court?
  • I think I replied to your previous thread about this, as the same thing happened to my Mum. The gave her the 10 day thing, she kept on at them and eventually they came back to her offering 1/2 refund. She refused this and they agreed to full refund.

If you keep on their case you should get it back.

Also my Mum did not get any experts in to look at the system, I think this would just be wasting more money.

Doing a Power-Flush seems to be the answer to most problems when BG Engineers are concerned!

I try and avoid any dealings with BG and BT. As for the engineers, are they fitters or salesmen, or qualified technicians, registered or chartered engineers.
