will i lose credit if i switch?

Options
I want to switch from British gas and Powergen but am about £80 in credit with both of them. Will I lose this credit if I switch? And do I stop my direct debit with them or does the switch provider do this for me? Thanks for any advice

You can just request your credit back anyway, whether you switch or not. I did this recently as I had roughly £80 sitting in Scottish Power's pocket and I preferred it to be sitting in mine.

It's your money. They're just saving it for you - but they get the interest.

No you won't lose credit but stop your DD or it will go rolling on and your old supplier won't tell you.

You have to request the money back from them, you never loose it as it is YOURS and is one of the direct debits guarantees (I think).
About your other question, you have to stop the direct debit yourself, you have to inform British Gas and Powergen that you are stopping the direct debit, and request that your bank stop them. This is a guarantee for you, no one else can do/request anything from your account without your express conscent.

Its up to you to sort out your direct debits. Do it as soon as you have a confirmed switching date.
BG and Powergen will refund any balances to your bank account.
Well they did for me after a couple of we are sorry to lose you phone calls and letters.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
