Switching from BG/nPower to EDF Online

I just put our details into 3 of the price comparison sites and all 3 come up with EDF Online tariff 3.1 (Seeboard, London Energy and SWEB) as the cheapest supplier followed by Powergen online. As a virgin switcher though before putting it through I have a couple of questions.

1) Our Gas bill is paid by DD and we received a bill after a vastly over-estimated reading of £117.83. We also pay nPower monthly using a payment agreement card and still haven't finished paying the December bill. Could either company stop us switching? If not what would happen to the outstanding amounts? Would they be due immediately or would the same payment agreements carry on until the bills were paid even though we switched suppliers?

2) I can't seem to find the Online tariff anywhere to double check the price per KWh of electricity or gas - can someone give these to me or point me in the direction of them?

I can't help with question 1 but can with number 2.

    2. This tariff isn't available anywhere other than the comparison sites. I have that tariff and can confirm that the rates were exactly what I was quoted in Energyhelpline. If you want to give me your region ( i.e. Scottish Power, Manweb ) I can give you the tariff from my leaflet. All 8 regions are different.

    In answer to 1.
You would normally be billed for the outstanding ammounts for both bills. I used to work for BG and know that will be the case for you oustanding ammount with them, then i think you have upto 30days to pay.

    Hope this helps
