New Energy Charges
I was listening to Martin on the Jeremy Vine programme today and found his advice very informative. :money:
His advice was that if you are already signed up for dual utilities, not to jump in feet first and change suppliers because they will ALL increase eventually.
I get both my gas and electricity from Scottish Gas (British Gas) and pay by direct debit.
My payments will increase automatically in line with the recently announced horrendous increases.
I have now received another communication from Scottish Gas asking me to sign up to 'Price Protection' which will freeze my energy prices until 2009.
Quote: "There is a small 2.3% premium on your gas, but you'll receive a 3.5% discount on your electricity. So, for an average dual fuel customer, it won't cost anything extra."
Is this a good deal?
Any opinions will be most welcome. :T

Missed Martin on the radio... but Scottish Gas, British Gas, are the dearest on the market. I reckon they are relying on the market share that have no computer savvy etc. (the vast majority) to go with the flow.
From personal experience, I swapped from Scottish Gas, dual provider, to Scottish Hydroelectric, just over a year ago... saved approx. £13.00 per month, all balanced out.
Just swapped again to London Energy Online, know they are due to increase prices, but doubt if that'll make up the difference in savings.
I certainly wouldn't entertain Brirtish/ Scottish Gas.0 -

The London Energy Online tariff isn't going up in March with the rest of their tariffs.0
