Help making Danish Pastries
Hi, everyone, Can anyone please offer advice/recipe for making Danish Pastries. I would like to do the ones that are like a cathryn wheel, with a stick cinnamon topping, and drizzled with icing. I'm sure I should be able to make them cheaper than shop bought. I can imagine that they will be fiddly and time consuming, but…

When I was cooking a meal yesterday I used mange tout and filled potato skins. When I was little, the pea pods and the potato skins would have gone onto the compost heap. Food has fashions too.

Hard dates
I usually buy Tesco own make dates just to eat out of the packet and they're really nice. Last time I got some though the Tesco ones were out of stock so I bought Whitworth's. They're terrible - hard and have plasticy, flaky skins that are hard to swallow. If I used them for baking do you think they will soften up or will…

Basics for Jam Making?
I'd really like to have a go at making my own jam, but I haven't a clue what equipment I would need. Could you help by letting me know the basics I would need to start? (I can add to it as I go, so would like to start with the basics.) I've seen small Kilner jars sold out here very cheaply, would they be any good for…

Serendipity...
Well then, during the recent cold spell I wrapped up with fleeces and avoided putting the heater on as much as possible, but... one evening I just had to. Only to find out that the switch had gone and I had to keep it pressed in order for power to flow to the heating elements. Ok, I thought, will need to get a new one for…

Not looking at what I was doing
Hiya This morning I got a pack of what I thought was mince out of the freezer. It wasn't, its stewing steak. Can I stick it in the food processor and mince it up? or will it be too tough? Thanks

Your best/worst old style idea
On the BBC have your say forum today the question is what do you think is the worlds worst idea? I thought we could adapt this to old style: So what has been your worst old style idea and your best old style idea? My worst has to be making home-made biscuits when we didn't normally buy them anyway. Me and my OH both gained…

Simple meals are the best
I think, having read lots of the threads here. Keep it simple seems to be the theme regarding recipes. I whole heartedly agree by the way. Most contributors seem to make tasty meals with just a few standard ingredients. Look through any glossy supplement and find many an exotic sounding dish which has about 25 different…

Silver marks on china
Hello, First time of posting, so apologies if this has been asked before. I have a set of stoneware china which is white shiny glazed in the centre with a duller cream rim. Prefectly good condition apart from the fact it is covered with "silver" marks from cutlery. Any ideas how I can remove these marks and get it back to…

Breadmaker - replacement parts?
Hi, I threw away a loaf of bread that I made as it didn't turn out right. But the mixing blade was still embedded inside it! :o Now I've got a shiny expensive breadmaker that is sitting useless, because I have no mixing blade. Any idea if/where I could get a replacement blade? It's a Panasonic SD254.
