Actually its probably more like 6 weeks old
It was brought and put at the back of the salad crisper in the fridge and forgotten about until just now when I was "scrounging" around for leftover bits of food to last us till pay day
It smells ok and looks like it was freshly picked this morning :rotfl: so shall I chance eating it and if so how? The idea of a 6 week old broccoli freaks me out a bit!!!
Hmmm maybe I need to clear out my fridge more often
but in my defense I haven't brought fresh veg for a few weeks now (naughty me!!!!) so I wasn't expecting to find anything tucked away behind the jelly pots that DP keeps buying :rotfl:

It is obvious when vegetables are not fit to eat
rotten, mushy, smelly etc

If it looks OK, then it should be OK to eat. At worst, some of the nutrients will have faded away.:beer:0

I would still eat it.0

If it's any consolation, broccoli is in the ground for up to a year before it is picked, if it smells good then it's fine to eat.0

Thanks for the replies...
I wonder why its not rotten? I didn't give it any special treatment!!!0 -
Has it not gone 'bendy'? Mine always gets rubbery/bendy if it's there longer than a week.0

I am suprised it's survived. I only buy it frozen as I was sick of it going yellow within a few days of purchase and being stored in the fridge.
Still if it looks OK I'd still use it. You must have a very special fridge !I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

If anybody's interested, Lakeland sell these packs of green bags (not sure how much) in which you can store veg in the fridge for WEEKS and it stays fresh! They're called 'Stayfresh Longer Bags'. I too have some broccoli in my fridge in one of these bags that's been there for at least four weeks, and it looks great!!
p.s. just checked and they cost between £3.29 and £5.99 fro a pack of twenty, according to which size you want.Toto, something tells me we're not in Kansas anymore......0
