Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Thursday 22nd May 2008. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning Everyone
Earlybird this morning, awoken by DH's snoring, and I has to be bad to wake me up. He did quiet down, but the damage was done and I was wide awake over an hour ago, so thought I'd kick us off.
A few chores to get through today, Aldi, Wilco, Electrical Wholesalers, Pedicure, so will be up and off around 8 a.m. I have just been reading the thread relative to the rising prices, and how far people are from supermarkets. Here we live in a "Town" though it is really a large village but we pay extra Council Tax for the Town Council who personally after attending a Council Meeting recently I wouldn't pay in paperclips. We have a Co-op and a Somerfield attached to a Garage. Asda & a just opened Netto are 5 miles away, Aldi & Morrisons 8 miles away, and Tesco/Sainsburys/Lidl 10 miles away. The Large Tesco & Asda are nearer 15 miles away. Our real town is 10 miles away, and we are lucky in the market there, plus many car boots on the Sundays with Fruit & Veg stalls. In Spain we have 10 supermarkets including their 4 main ones, Aldi & Lidl, and their 2 cheapo ones, within a 20 minutes steady walk, together with a market within a 10 mile radius everyday (difference place each day). I will check out the pasta prices while at Aldi, and maybe stock up for DS.
Hope the op has been OK Pen-Pin, ((((((Hugs)))))) Smoky, Jayward, and everyone else who escape me atm.

I`ve just got back in with the houndies after a brisk walk around the park, its a bit cool out there but it has the makings of a nice day so i hope i`m right as i`ve just put some washing in to hang up later.
The bm is beeping as i type so i`d best go and empty it and sort my hair out as i have to leave the house in 15 mins.
I spoke to my friend yesterday who is in quite good spirits considering, hopefully it will last but at least i can be there if it dosen`t. Thanks for the good wishes for her yesterday peeps.
Best run, catch you all later - have a great day everyone.

Morning. Looks dreary today out there and even worse for the BH weekend.
Last day of work and then 3 days off. I am working BH but double pay, so no complaints. Whar shal I do with the money? Perhaps I can treat myself to a litre of diesel :rotfl: .
Good footy wasn't it? I diod'nt mind who won, but you have to feel sorry for the runners up (not really losers are they, no one else got to the final).
Terry crying like a baby, must have really hurt....coming second that is.#
Best get the bins out, walk the dog and make packed lunches. Half term next week. NO chores!
Cheers folksNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Morning all
The title reminds me of a very good forgery I saw in court once. Some bank statements from the Abbey which had been seen by several entry clearance officers, solicitors, etc. It was the judge who noticed that one of the statements was dated 22th January
Hugs to Jayward, smokey, PP and anyone else who I've missed
I'm up early to try to get the house in order before w*rk - best be off then I s'pose - sighI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -

Yes I copy the sticky before I open the thread, and just add an opening line, and then post, it seems to avoid as many duplicates that way. I can then go back and continue the waffle, but it does help if you open your eyes first.

back to work today. yesterday got some gardening done, some washing, and generally chilled out.
OH's new golf clubs arrived. he's decided to take up golf and ordered a cheap set off the internet until he sees how he gets on. however when it came it was one club short...turns out the deal had changed, and also the price had dropped on the website. So sorted that out. getting refund of the difference
they look quite good for the money.
best wishes to everyone.x x x0 -

Good morning! DH and DS stayed up for the footie, so DH is tired, and I'll have all on to get DS out of bed this morning  Bad luck, Churchie, not a way to decide such a close match
I baked for England yesterday (bread pudding, coffee and walnut cake, lemon drizzle cake, fruit loaf, pie, yogurt). That should keep us going until next week. I'm going to make some bread rolls for lunch, and my first attempt at a tortilla  as we have so many eggs
I'm going to cycle to the farm shop first thing, then Gingham and the Ribbon Boys are coming for lunch :j :T  They're coming to see the chicks
r.mac - are congratulations in order
Hugs to everyone :A
