Saving for Grandchildren
Hi All, My mum wants to setup and manage a savings account for my two kids. She has suggested making an initial deposit of £100 into each account and then adding £5 per month, hoping to increase this at birthdays/Christmas. Is this possible and what are the best options? Thanks in advance.

Declaring savings interest – practicalities
I’ve been reading
posts here and on the HMRC forums about how tax on interest on multi-year fixed
bonds should be declared. The
discussions are inconclusive because of the lack of clarity around the rules,
and the different answers given about them. This leaves
people unsure of what to do in some circumstances. Also,…

Mystery share dividends
On going through my bank statement transactions I found some dividend payments (Bank Giro Credit ref Sharedealing HSDL), dated 11 April 2024, and also 13 April and 11 Oct 2023. The issue is, the only shares I thought I had were Royal Mail, who paid out on fewer and different dates, and in any case into a different bank…

I am now 55 and have an old Barclays Life pension worth approx £30,000 that is now owned and managed by ReAssure. Vanguard S&P 500 ETF and US equity index fund whats the difference?
Hi, In my ISA I’m moving away from UK based equities, which , like the UK are not doing so well, (odd that! ) and moving towards North America so Vanguard offer these two funds. I can’t see how they differ as the descriptions are a bit vague . Do they overlap? There’s a difference in their performance but not a large one.

yougov.finance bribe
It's one of these almost-too-good-to-be-true stories, but it is true. First mentioned by @Bridlington1 in the Natwest Regular Saver thread, but I reckon this deserves its own thread as it could be of interest to those who have at least 10 current, credit card and savings accounts and not everyone reads the Natwest RS…

VOTE now! Proposed take over of Virgin Money - Nationwide members should be given a vote
I'm really unhappy about Nationwide management running roughshod over their members (we the customers own the building society as it's a mutual), trying to push through a deal to buy Virgin Money. My quick take: * Nationwide management have proposed a takeover of Virgin Money * Terms of the deal have been agreed, but it is…

Hi all. I am struggling to find conclusive facts online about what happens with shareholdings in a London listed PLC, if that company decides to delist from LSE and skips over to NYSE instead. General Discussion and Whimsical Banter
It was only a matter of time. Personally I've never minded the off-topic comments in the main threads to discuss top easy access and regular savings accounts, but I can see it's becoming a greater problem given that there just isn't a whole lot going on in the top end of the savings accounts market right now and possibly…
