Bulk LPG - Cheapest suppliers / supply route?
Hi all, Moved into a house in Jan that has a bulk LPG tank, which was previously supplied (and the tank is owned by) Calor. The contract they were really keen for me to sign was quite a restrictive lock in one and after speaking and a bit of negotiating they dropped the standing charge and discounted the pence per litre by…

Open and transparent pricing for domestic LPG
One of the most frustrating things we find re bulk LPG for domestic heating and water heating is the complete lack of transparency on price per litre. It’s 2026 - surely it ought to be possible to publish this and require all suppliers to do so openly and honestly? As a calor gas customer, it’s not even possible to find…

Help from Local Authority
Has anyone tried to get help from their local authorities? We live in a rural area with no gas supply so have to rely on heating oil. I have looked at the Crisis and Resilience fund application on our county council website but it is definitely means tested. I thought Ed Milliband said yesterday that it would not be?

Heating oil - do I have a binding contract?
I ordered heating oil online on Sunday 1 March and paid including a small premium for delivery by 10 March. I've checked my credit card and payment was taken that day. I had a delivery scheduled for Friday 6 March but it was "postponed" the day before and as yet has not been rescheduled. I strongly suspect it will be…

Thoughts on Govt. support for home heating fuel?
I'm watching and listening to the discussions about the possibility of Govt intervention on heating oil prices with interest. I do have a concern though that if some form of price cap is applied, and/or if support is given either universally or to specific groups, then this could result in a lack of competition and a…

Oil supplier cancellation of original order
Goff petroleum just cancelled my heating oil order. They cited an "unexpected influx of orders" due to the global situation. However, it appears they may be fulfilling orders at higher market rates using existing stock that was originally committed to lower-priced contracts. This market requires stricter regulation to…

Heating oil price hike
Hi, we live in a rural area of South Somerset and rely on oil for our heating, we ordered with our supplier on 16th February at a cost of 62p per litre, by the 24th February we had run so low on oil, our boiler wouldn't work. Even after telling our supplier that we had no form of heating, we were left without oil for a…

It's a shame those on heating oil won't see a reduction on the 1st April. Gets tin hat!

Flogas charge but no delivery
Hi all having some issues with Flogas at the moment. Our tank was at about 25% so ordered a delivery. Flogas say they delivered 700l last Tue but my husband and I were both at home and didn’t see/hear anything and the usual delivery note through the door wasn’t left. Our tank is now showing 20% so they clearly didn’t…

TANKER RAN OUT OF GAS!
Hello, I had a gas delivery yesterday whilst I wasn’t in. My tank holds 2400 litres and the delivery slip stated 215 litres were delivered and a handwritten note saying “TANKER RAN OUT OF GAS”. My tank was at 20% when I checked Friday and when I checked again this morning it was at 21%…. Surely a 215 litre delivery should…

Moisture content in solid fuel
My last delivery of solid fuel yesterday morning (Blackjack smokeless ovoids) looked to be a short measure. 4 bags usually fills my bunker exactly, but this time it was considerably less and the fuel was soaking wet. I wondered how much the water affected the delivered weight: Hetas says "It is not uncommon for your…

AvantiGas - Non Compliant illegal in-ground tank
Moving into this property I found myself with an existing non-compliant LPG tank which by being UK non-compliant (it is in the EU), is unsafe and illegal to have on my premises.Because if this, I am unable to transfer to any other LPG supplier. As soon as I mention my current supplier is AvantGas, they automatically refuse…

Bulk LPG Tanker (in)accuracy
Since 2012, I have closely monitored my bulk LPG tank gauge, particularly before and after a tank fill. I have used this data to predict how much LPG should be delivered. Until 2020, the predicted figure was within 1% of the actual delivered volume, sometimes the deviation was positive, others, it was negative. However,…

Heating oil delivery query
I recently had a delivery of heating oil. It flagged up on my ring camera. When I got home there was no delivery ticket through the letter box. I checked the tank and there was less oil than I expected, so I thought that maybe they abandoned the delivery for some reason. I received the bill a couple of days later for 500…

Removing an LPG tank
We've recently had our LPG boiler removed and replaced with an ASHP as part of the ECO scheme, as such the LPG tank in the front garden is now redundant and needs to go. We had a contract with Avanti Gas which expired in January and they've quoted me £500 + VAT to take the tank away and an additional £280 + VAT to pump the…

Be warned - Value Oils/Watson Fuels
Not sure what's going on with these companies but they are failing to deliver what they say they will. Value Oils has been pushing for pre-Xmas delivery of oil for over a month, so we placed an order 30th November with delivery by 18th Dec. No delivery has arrived and I've chased every day since, being told that it would…
