Shawbrook Bank - how do they get away with it?
I had a 1 year ISA, maturing on 10th April 2026. In March they asked me what I wanted to do with the funds. As they didn't have any decent rates I informed them, with 30 days notice, that I would be transferring all of the funds out of the ISA on maturity. The ISA transfer was pending for 30 days. I would have thought a…

Fundsmith again.
I've held Fundsmith for many years and it did very well for me. I sold out of the ISA a some years ago for better options because no sell liabilities, and have slowly brought down the GIA amount in CGT exemption steps. In the days of 12.3k exemptions this was pretty easy, but now with 3k it is more difficult. I've never…

Buying gilts - which platform to use?
I am considering buying some (conventional and index-linked) gilts and am not sure about which platform to use. It seems that Fidelity don't offer gilts at all (only gilts funds and ETFs), whereas Scottish Widows (formerly iWeb) offer them. Any other platform which offers gilts? Thanks for the help!

Clarify 30 day rule on stocks and shares
Hi there I sold some S&S - a Vanguard ETF - from within a T212 GIA (gain not subject to CGT as well under the £3k), in order to rebuy within my ISA. Am I correct that I cannot buy the same ETF in the GIA again for 30 days without this having a CGT implication later on? So if I want to buy in my GIA either wait until the 30…

My S&S diary - investing from February 2026
After sitting to learn about investing into the stock market, I finally jumped in. The 6th of February 2026. I am writing the diary for myself to remember the journey. I could see that I, probably the same as others, tend to only feel comfortable to tell others about what we do, when we are doing fine with S&S, and choose…

The Top Fixed Interest Savings Discussion Area
