Unsuccessful POPLA Appeal
POPLA refused my appeal against parking ticket. Their decision was not well justified in my opinion, with comment that seemed opposite to what I have seen in other decisions, for example: "In this case the parking operator has confirmed they have the authority from the owner of the land to act on their behalf, the…

Shared ownership & staircasing assistance!
Good morning all, new here and have read a fair few posts in regard to staircasing stamp duty! I think I may have got my maths correct but not 100% and its driving me round the bend so a little confirmation would be massively helpful! I bought my property at a 50% share for £112475 in 2021 during the covid Stamp duty…

Cooling off period and other ISA accounts
I opened a cash ISA in this tax year. After reading this forum I decided to close it during the 14 day cancellation period. The money was sent to my linked account (regular bank account). That was the option Investec offered. I then opened an ISA with a different bank. I wanted to check if that is all ok. I.e I can still…

Cotton wool pads - reusable alternative
Hi all, Our local authority are moving to 3 weekly bin collections, not a problem for us as we never fill the black bin. But, it has got us thinking about just what we do put in there and we've challenged ourselves to make a more concerted effort to reduce our waste further. My main waste is cotton wool pads for skin…

The Iran Impact: Panel and Battery Inverter Prices rising from 5/26 onwards
Just received confirmation from two of the installers I use. Component prices are rising across brands, which will impact new Solar quotes from May onwards. As an example, Tesla distribution had 700 PW3s in stock in early April. Last Friday, < 100. Said another way, the UK will likely sell out of Tesla PW3s by month's end.…

AJ Bell Monthly Fees
I switched my stocks & shares ISA to AJ Bell last month, largely on the basis of what I read on MSE, noting especially (thank-you Benjamin Taylor) that their monthly fees are capped at £3.50. They are not! Fees on FUNDS are charged separately to those on shares and are NOT CAPPED. Could this be made clear for other readers…

Hi, I have sold my house, and I have a temporary address (friends). However, changing my address has got complicated. Hi all, I was wondering if you could help me with your expertise. I received a CN from CVS from Bristol airport for stopping in a zone where stopping is prohibited. It was on 17/12/2025 and we received it on 21/01/2026 but dated 15/01/2026. We had pre-pаid parking in the silver zone but the sat nav took us to a silly place…

I'm 29, based in London, earning £2,290 a month. I've just had a DMP set up through StepChange yesterday and they've confirmed they've received my paperwork. But before I fully commit I wanted to get some views on whether I've done the right thing, specifically around the defaulting first debate. My debts Total…

Removing Charge from deeds
I am looking for some help as to removing a Charge from Land Registry records. Several years ago, we loaned our daughter some money and on legal advice, placed a Charge on her property. We would now like to write off the loan and have the Charge removed. Is there a simple way to do this ourselves or would it need a…

In the UK I will have my state pension, and the rental on our house, paid into my (Lloyds) bank account. I will not…

Gilt Ladder Builder site question
Looking at the https://lategenxer.streamlit.app/Gilt_Ladder for ILGs, it seems that some of the gilts (e.g. T33 and T28) are greyed out. Any idea what this means? There seems to be trades ongoing each day. I wish to purchase some T33, but not sure if they are actually available or not?

Size of televisions
Who else here is not a fan of larger televisions? I have a 32" screen and it is plenty for me, plus where one sits in my living room, a screen any larger will be partly obsured by a wall shelf I have for a pricey turntable and one of my expertly placed pricey hifi speakers.
