Electronic share platform charges
Hi
I have shares held electronically at HL, my shares were purchased over 20 yrs ago, I don't do share trading, The service was free but now they've introduced monthly charges. I asked HL to revert to paper certificate so I stop using their services but they said they don't issue paper certificates.
I don't want to pay monthly charges . What are my options? Are there any other platforms which are free?
Thanks

Freetrade or Trading 212 spring to mind.
I've moved shares from HL to both and it has been a breeze.
• The rich buy assets.
• The poor only have expenses.
• The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.1 -
Scottish Widows investments is free. Open an account with them and initiate a transfer (there’s an option within SW).

What do you own? For an in specie transfer you need to make sure the new broker offers the same securities.

You're trying to transfer shares in specie from a taxable GIA into an Isa? No, this isn't possible. You'd need to sell the shares, transfer the cash to the Isa - keeping in mind annual allowances - and repurchase the shares.
You can in specie transfer GIA to GIA and S&S Isa to S&S Isa.

LSE ftse100 shares. Shell, vodafone, kigfisher, centrica, national grid, lloyds…..

Then you should be fine to transfer to any of Scottish Widows Share Dealing, T212, Freetrade (and maybe others) which do not charge monthly, as long as it's the same kind of wrapper (GIA, ISA or SIPP) as you're transferring from.

Although Scottish Widows Sharedealing does have an annual SIPP administration charge of 0.25% of the value of your investments charged monthly, up to a maximum of £16.50 a month.
