Travel insurance - group of young women
So our 17YO ( 18 in September ) is going away for a week with friends in Tenerife in July, some are 18 and some are 17.
I can't seem to get her individual insurance because of her age, but would I get group insurance for the lot of them?
I've not asked for quotes yet as I don't have all their details yet.
If anyone can recommend somewhere that would do insurance for our 17YO alone, I'm happy to do that and the others can sort themselves out.

Nope, as soon as we put her DOB in the quote is rejected.

I agree however you do it, get her her own travel insurance.
I've answered sooo many questions on another site where booked as a group/insured as a group and one or two decide not to go which has big implications on cost and sorting it all out.
If everyone has to pay for the trip and insure themselves then it's their problem and easier to deal with.
Has the hotel agreed to take those at 17?
To the point though, have you tried a phone call to a couple of companies? They may be able to deal with it better or at least tell you why. My guess is that going without a responsible adult they are below the age of consent for agreeing to medical treatment or hotel expenses.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I now have all their details, with two of them being over 18
Let's see what happens when I try and get a group quote.

Some bank accounts will offer travel insurance and include cover for the children of the account holders travelling separately at that age.

For closure to the thread, for anyone else interested, I have been able to get group insurance using one of the 18 year olds as the lead traveller and the 17YOs as additional travellers.

Hi @Bandy2023, have you read through the travel insurance guide on the MSE main site?

If all pay up their share of the policy ahead of it being taken out - would it impact negatively on the others if any pull out thereafter ?

It would if there were substitutes, as they wouldn’t be insured on the policy. It would also be an issue if the lead insured pulled out.

You should be able to get insurance anywhere with you being the policyholder but she being the traveller… as its not a contract of necessity they won't want to enter into a contract with a minor given that makes it binding on them but not binding on the minor
