I have used it as a way of replying to someone without all the multiple quotes that the site now generates.Pyxis said:Could someone explain to me the reason for the use of the @ username (no space) thing that has started happening on the forum?
I assume it is a Facebook, Twitter or Instagram thingy, but I don’t use those, so I don’t know.
When you click on the blued-up name, it just takes you to their profile page, which you can get to by clicking on their username or pic anyway, so what’s the advantage in having the @ with it?
I’m puzzled.

I don't always want to go back to a start of several years ago. Why can we no longer just click on the latest comment as before?MollyR said:Copied from "Welcome to the New Forum" thread:Pyxis said:
I think it goes to the last post you have seen, so if you haven’t viewed that thread on the new forum, it will take you to the very beginning.roddydogs said:Im sure this has been asked, apologies, but how can I go straight to the latest post after pressing "new posts ", it sometimes then goes to the original post.0 -

This is a new platform , with different software, so it doesn't know you've visited a thread before. After the first time you visit, it will have learned, and take you new comments since your last visit. @Pyxis you should get a notification if someone uses @ with your username, handy for finding out someone has answered your question, or alerting you to something you might be interested in, for example.vm2pensioner said:I don't always want to go back to a start of several years ago. @Misslayed, have you any idea when the new snagging thread, which @MSE_Tine assured us on 14th February would be started "in the next week or so", will materialise?

I'm sympathetic as I know you all work hard but I'm really disappointed with the way mse have handled this. I've noticed a number of small changes in the past few weeks but there are so many things about the new platform that are a retrograde step. Many people have voted with their feet and left, others just post briefly. Some are trying bravely to use their IT know how to get round all the glitches. It's a poor show.Misslayed said:Sorry, I know nossing, just a humble unpaid overworked volunteer! 😳
