New Forum FAQs

Since the New Forum Snagging thread is being overwhelmed with people asking "How-do-I" questions, and other people answering, I thought it would be a good idea to start an FAQs thread.  Ideally, it would be good to have one sticky post which could be edited to include a list of every new Q&A which is posted here, but since I can see no way to make this post sticky (i.e. to appear at the top of every page) I will simply edit it with a reference to answered questions, so that other people with the same question can locate the answer without having to post it again.  So please do post questions and answers here!  When doing so, please include as much information as possible to assist those who may offer help - e.g. whether you are using a desktop, laptop, tablet or phone;  which browser you are using;  and anything else which can be of use.

ANSWERED QUESTIONS

• How can I specify the notification e-mails I receive?
• When clicking on "New Posts, how can I go to the latest post rather than the first page?
• How can I see my recent posts?
• How can I move to a specific page number on my phone?
• I can't see the forum at all on my phone/tablet.
• How can I use different colours in my posts?
• How do I use Quote, Spoiler and Code when posting?
• Can I change the forum's appearance?
• Can I sort my competition forum by time/date of the post, rather than by the comments?
• I can't group my bookmarks into folders any more.

Thanks for doing this Molly (although I'm disappointed that you have to rather than an initiative from mse).
When the thread grows, how do we get back to the first page? I'm doing this (currently) on my android phone, other things may be different.

I would imagine there will be page numbers?

Indeed, the list (as it grows) will always be on Page 1.  Unfortunately I can't find any way to create a brief sticky post which would always be at the top of every page - but these things may come!

Click on your profile button, then in your profile on the left is a white list.....click on Replies.
This will show you your posts, but you have to scroll way down past your badges.

On my phone it only shows the current and previous page numbers and then there are arrows to go backwards or forwards.... slowly, one page at a time.

If you can see the URL of the page, you can move round the pages by changing the page number at the end of the URL (it shows page numbers once you go over to a second page). 

For example, when I look at the Snag thread, it initially takes me to: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6100014/new-forum-snagging#latest

If I go back one page, it takes me to https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6100014/new-forum-snagging/p97

So if I wanted to move to p1 or p14 (for some reason) I can just edit the URL to end with p1 or p14 instead of p97 

(But of course I don't know if you can see the URL on the phone as I never browse MSE on my phone!)

You can see it on your phone - I just did exactly how you explained it and it worked, thank you 😃

Sorry if this has already been asked. How do I set my notification preferences to just send me one weekly email about each subscribed thread (like a weekly digest) rather than send me a separate email about Every Single Post? It’s driving me potty! Thank you.
