3-6 Month Emergency Fund Challenge!!

Must be karma or something (not quite sure exactly what karma is:o) but after Helen and crazy_cat_lady and I were 'chatting' about Madame Tussauds last week I came across a biography of her totally by chance in a charity shop this morning when I was dropping off a load of stuff.:j. Not only is it in tip top condition it is a hardback (my favourite) and only cost £1:T:T:T
I know nothing at all about the lady, in fact until Helen mentioned her upcoming visit to the venue I'd forgotten all about Madame Tussauds:o. I love reading, would do it 24/7 if I had unlimited funds to buy books, had more storage space and no other commitments in my life. I do use the library a lot and buy my books at boot sales and charity shops so I'm not a spendthrift;). Even someone in as much debt as me can enjoy a hobby for an absolute minimum outlay:j.
I've been glued to the telly every night until about 3 a.m. watching the Olympics so have had no time for reading for the past fortnight. Now it's all over I can get back to enjoying a good book after tea again. Really looking forward to starting this new one:j0 -
Ooops! I was so busy rabitting about Madame Tussaud in the last post that I totally forgot to update my EF:o
I won £25 on the lottery on Saturday (only buy a ticket once in a blue moon and bought this because all the Olympic medal winners were thanking the National Lottery for their funding).
I also found an unretrieved £1 coin in a supermarket trolley and received £20 from a survey site cashout.
Adding £44 to my EF (after deducting the £2 I paid for the lottery ticket). That means I am now only £49 'in the red':j.0 -
Hi everyone. Can I join in on this? I already have a partial emergency fund. Aiming for £10,750 and at the current rate it's going to take a long while to save, so might as well join you guys for the journey.
Thanks0 -

Thanks for the welcome! Pay day come Friday, so hoping I can add to my current savings. Company also owes me £55 in expenses for a work trip. So when that comes back it's going into the savings pot as well. The way I see it, that money is spent and gone, so when I get it back, I am not allowed to spend it0

I'm so glad that you had a wonderful day, Helen:j. You deserve some fun:A
The book is wonderful and Madame T was truly awesome. What a woman!!! I'm only 2 chapters in so far but I'm already gobsmacked by her:j
If you meant I'd confused you by my updated total, Helen, I apologise. All my fault I'm afraid:o.
Quick-ish explanation coming up. Before my finances truly hit the buffers I had £300 in this EF which you'd put on the first page. I had to back out of the challenge for a few months and sadly had to use the £300 which I'd vowed to ring-fence and leave alone:o.
When I came back to join in again you were having lots of problems with your health and work and I didn't want to bother you by asking you to delete the £300 from my total. You hadn't been on the thread for a while.
I decided to make up the £300 bit by bit so that one day soon I hope I'll really have that amount. Instead of you updating I asked you to leave the £300 as it was whilst I make up the deficit. So the amounts I've been posting are going to 'pay back' that £300 and the 1st page doesn't need updating.
At the last count I've managed to claw back all but £49:j. Once that's achieved I really will be back to the £300 you have down for me and you can start updating again. Nothing in the pipeline at the moment but I live in hope.
I hope that's clear now, I'm so sorry for confusing you:kisses3:0 -
Hi all
Another pay day rolls around. August was a loooong month as we had lots of visiting/visitors but it was brilliant. Have read back and everybody is doing great with their EF, Helen you are a star for updating us all. Hope you keep well.
Anyway, have added to my fund, hopefully still on track to be 1/3 of the way there by the one year of challenge mark. Now at £1170/4000MFIT -T5 #420 -
hi all
nearly long weekend time
please add £50 to my total, half way there
hope all's ok helen
thanks x0 -
Good morning!
It's pay day for me so I'm adding £30 to my 3-6 month fund, been up since the crack of dawn, can't sleep so the budgeting has been done already!
Good news is that this month I've hit my regular EF target which means I can start putting more into this from September pay onwards.
Anyway, today's addition takes my fund to £320 please
Hope everyone is ok
