3-6 Month Emergency Fund Challenge!!

Hi All,
I hope you are all well.
I haven't read/ posted on the tread for little while so ill have to go back and read through after posting my new total.
I've had a bit of a mixed month money wise. It was my boyfriends birthday so I've had a massive over spend in terms of food and drink this month...all taken out of my £1000 EF. So, I will have to be topping this back up too over the next few paydays.
My new total for my 3-6 EF is #5 £2383.75/£3000 (79.45%)
Its kind of bittersweet at the moment due to my £1000 EF not being fully topped up, I feel like I'm cheating in a little way ... but regardless i'll get there eventually. So close!
I'll go back and read through everyones progress this weekend

Another little update from me
£31.27 added so new total is £7051.51 aka 81.05%
I feel like I'm creeping and sneaking a teeny tiny bit further each time.
keep on, keeping on

:oCreeping in as quietly as I can to say  again. Sorry to have been away so long and I still have pages of your posts to catch up on. I'll read them all as soon as I get some uninterrupted time. I haven't even any money to declare yet but my £1000 EF target on patman's thread should (fingers crossed) be reached by Friday:j. It's been a real slog but a great relief to be within touching distance again after all the repairs and replacements that caused me such panic at the start of the year:o.
From Monday I'll start trying to add to my totals on this thread again (although in my case it won't be for a 3 Months EF but for my 'new to me' car fund instead). Happily my current car passed its MOT last month (with no recommendations for anything that may need looking at in the immediate future:j). The car is 14 years old though and can't go on forever. Better be prepared for when the inevitable finally happens, eh?
See you all soon:beer:0 -
CBC that will be brilliant to hit your £1K EF - well done :j
#2 checking back again
Not for an update but a downdate......the car was a bit sluggish every time I started it up on a recent trip away [4 hr drive each way] so it did well.
Thought it must've been just one of those things until it wouldn't start at all......gutted.
All fixed now though, it was the starting motor and in all fairness I don't recall ever changing that and I've had it for 8yrs so I can't grumble too much
This does mean my EF has gone down by £130 putting my new total at £6921.51 aka 79.56%.
The battle to reach 80% goes on
Keep on keeping on everyone.

I hope everyone is well and managing to save a bit:beer:
Member # 12 just popping in to say that at long last I've replenished my £1000 Emergency Fund (patman's challenge) after wiping it out earlier this year when just about everything I own conked out or died:eek:
I'm going to do everything I can now to build up to my £3000 target on here. I mentioned before that it's meant for my 'new' car when my current old faithful eventually goes to the scrapyard in the sky. Helen said it was OK to use it for that, rather than living expenses etc. As a pensioner my 'income', such as it is, stays the same whatever happens, there's no fear of losing a job for instance.
I've got a confession to make though:o. I've just had a peek on the 1st page of the thread to find my member number and see that I appear to have £300. I did have once, swore it was ring-fenced, and vowed not to touch it. Sadly, with the lousy year I had there was no alternative but to raid it.. My total now stands at a big fat zero. There's no need to adjust the totals page though, Helen, as I have a plan;)
I claimed some cashback and got a refund when I swapped varifocals (which I just couldn't get on with and they allow you to give them a trial) for ordinary glasses. Plus, there are a few other bits and bobs. So I'll tot it up and once it reaches the £300 I should have had I'll start adding more and list it on here. Sorry if that's as clear as mud but I know what I mean:rotfl:
It's lovely to be back:beer:0 -
The mix up with the council is still an on going battle, but with lots of shuffling back and forth, my tax credits reduced etc I have done a new budget. Yesterday I replaced my car. Well I have been without a car for about a month. I bought a cheaper one on my Credit card, but will be clearing that with a bit of money shuffling and balance transfers. This means that my savings for Emergencies will be
£1100.00 from today Helen. ThankyouWhen I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Added $1194 today. I wish I was doing as well with my weight loss.
Signature updated.Overprepare, then go with the flow.

I'm sorry to report that the EF has dropped again
Despite my monthly SO going over today, and interest being applied to my account, my dog ended up at the vets with a £115.52 bill yesterday  So my current total now stands at £575.07. I know that this is why I set up this EF, and I'm grateful that I have it, but I hate to see it go down!SPC - #483 [banked £134.15] - :staradmin :staradmin gold stars from Sue-UU!
