3-6 Month Emergency Fund Challenge!!
Comments
-
Hi Dreamer Helen & Everyone,
Am I too late to join this thread and the 3-6 months EF challenge? I am being made redundant and after nearly 12 years with my current employer, I will be unemployed in 3 weeks time :eek::eek:.
I am plodding on with clearing my debts, but I know that I need an emergency fund large enough to live on for 6 months. I will use a bit of my redundancy to bring the debts down and to start the initial lump sum for the emergency fund. I am hoping to change career and go freelance, as my health is not very good at present, and I want to be able to have a flexible work/life balance. So an emergency fund that can cover debt repayments if I am struggling for work/income is essential.
Please let me know,
Thanks,

Hi, if possible I would love to join in with this, my husband is currently off work following a car accident and well it has been an eye opener and I am determined to get some savings in place!! Not too sure on a target just yet, I think might aim for £500 mini targets as they feel a bit more achievable than a big balance to start with!
thanks xxNo one is going to stand up at your funeral and say

71p interest has been added to my EF so the balance now stands at £632.24
Have skipped the monthly SO to the EF this month due to a lot of necessary expenditure but have been making long-term savings plans which is a positive :j

Hi all,
Payday for me - always a treat :-)
Another £100 in the fund for me, making it £1000 now.
Thank you Helen for looking after us so well, despite your health problems - hope you're feeling better now.0 -
#55 £220/£3000
I picked up some extra hours covering my boss who was poorly so I was able to add extra, plus 1 extra shift at my 3rd job.
From September I should be working more hours at my 3rd job so will be able to add more to it. My husband is planning to do a carboot soon as our 4 month old has out grown loads, and we could do with a general declutter!
Thanks Helen and everyone else for the warm welcome.0 -
Hi Helen
I'm at £1300 now #13 - I'm back to paying in £50 a month as I now need to scrimp and save for a new to me car. The old one is on it's last legs...why couldn't it get sick once I had my emergency pot full..0
