Treadmill recommendations?
Hi All, Looking to invest in a treadmill as the council have decided turning off the street lights is a wonder idea and running in the winter is no longer a viable option for me during the week. I'm thinking either renting one or buying one - does anyone have any brand recommendations?

Which Sports Watch? - Virtual Pacer / Pace Alert Difference?
I am thinking of moving on from my £6.99 Casio with stopwatch "feature". :D I've done a fair bit of research on Garmin and am going to look at the Polar stuff next. I just cant work out how Virtual pacer and Pace Alert differ. If they are the same, why a different name? As the title reads really. The cheaper Garmin…

Paul Sinton-Hewitt gets the Albert Medal
I heard on With Me Now that he got the Albert Medal which I hadn't heard of but it seems a big deal : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albert_Medal_(Royal_Society_of_Arts) A nod to the parkrun organisation as a whole I suppose, 15 years of laying on inclusive free fitness events…

Sharing Peloton App Subscription
Hey all I wonder if anyone is using the Peloton app and knows how the subscription sharing works? It’s £20/month (basically) but it appears from the website that you can share that with two other people, making it pretty affordable. Has anyone done this? Are there any drawbacks? Would anyone like to? 😂

Bannatynes Membership
Hi all.. Asking for a friend. She took out a membership with Bannatynes Gym. She doesn't like it and gets nothing out of it. She has now found a new far better gym and went to cancel with Bannatynes and they are saying she is contracted for 12 months and the most they can do is temporarily halt her account for a couple of…

Xmas tip for personal trainer?
Earlier this year I started having sessions with a personal trainer. I am really pleased with the improvement to my fitness. But now we come to the dreaded question of Xmas and whether it is expected that one tips the PT - who is employed by my gym. As I understand it the PT fee is actually split between the PT and the…

What excercises do you do while performing everyday activities?
Basically title. What tips and tricks can you share to help squeeze in a little bit of fitness when doing otherwise mundane things? As an example, I find myself doing calf raises all the time, from brushing my teeth to pumping gas. I'm sure I have received many weird looks in the past, but it's better than running around…

Skinny water bottle with straw?
Can anybody suggest a refillable water bottle with a straw that is thinner than my current Contigo and Camelbak - both of which are about 8cm diameter at the bottom and don't fit in the pocket of my backpack. I think I need one which is about 6cm. TIA

Aqua Gym, are the “toys” useful
I have been doing aqua gym every week for many, many years. There are about +45 participants (90% ladies) with a coach at poolside. The session lasts 45 minutes. For the last 10/15 minutes we are given “toys” to use such as long bendy tubes or short tubes to use with the excersize. A few years ago I had some shoulder pains…

Concept 2 Rower
Had an accident at the beginning of the year and now finding my regular go to cardio options hard. Over the years I’ve read many positive things on rowers and their benefits on all round fitness. However I’ve spent a grand total of 1hour on one 20 years ago. When I think of rowers I think of concept 2s. I’m toying with the…

Puregym No Hot Water
I'm a puregym member and for just over 2 weeks now the whole gym has no hot water as the boiler is broken. You cant wash your hands or have a shower. I even tried a cold shower and it was unbearable. I've spoken to the manager and head office but the only thing they will offer me is to freeze my membership for up to 3…

Harlands Admin Charges
Hi guys, I recently cancelled my gym membership and stupidly didn't read the website saying I had to give 30 days notice and so also cancelled my direct debit. I have now been hit with 2x £25 charges by Harlands. I've done some research and seen this is a common issue. I saw in this thread:…

Facial Yoga
Hello there, I have lost a bit of weight recently as a result of being on a bit of a health plan. Does anyone have any useful resources with regards to facial yoga they'd be happy to share? I don't want to pay for a subscription or anything as I am on a tight budget right now (Christmas and mortgage free plan) but would…

Benefits of using eco friendly gym wear
My best friend and I decided that we should start working out and try out some sports like tennis. And of course, we want to wear the right type of clothes for such activities. When we’re checking out gym wear on the Internet, this store that offers vegan gym clothes really caught our attention. Did anyone try using one?…

Legal advice needed - cancellation period
Went to cancel gym membership and was told they need 14 days notice for cancellation, as was stated in the terms and conditions. News to me - whilst I did agree to terms and conditions, I did what most people do and didn’t read (it’s a gym membership, not a mortgage). I believe there is a bit of legal protection for…

Advice needed - Getting fit for cycling
After a fairly sedentary career I am working on getting fitter - currently do a gym session, swim session and a spin class each week - and although I am pleased with the results i have got a long way to go. I used to enjoy cycling but that was, shock horror, nearly 50 years ago. Bikes back then were way different! I’ve…

Swimming tracker devices
Funny feeling this will be a long shot but it's worth a try. I recently bought (& then returned) a Moov Now swimming tracker. I'd done a bit of reading on them (obviously not enough) and it got decent reviews. I had my concerns initially. I wasn't convinced that technology had advanced enough to give us accurate readings…
