PureGym/ 24/7 gyms members, Where do you keep your personal belongings?

Hi guys.
Joined puregym, I'm just a bit concerned about my personal items. I do have a padlock and there are lockers available, but when I go to the gym, due to my work hours, the gym isn't manned by staff, which means if for example my padlock was to break or the keys got lost, I'd be stuck, as I'm sure no one would have authority to use bolt cutters, due to no staff.

Dont know if you know where I'm coming from and if you do.
Do you keep your items on you, locker or car?

Just curious, sorry for asking a silly question.

A pure gym near me had several lockers broken into late at night as obviously they are open 24/7.They took away mobiles and debit/credit cards.

What sort of items are you thinking of locking up. You could take your phone in with you to the gym, lots of people do for music etc. On gym days, could you leave all your other valuables at home.

You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time
  • Use a locker in the main area of the gym rather than the changing rooms which are obviously more private and therefore give more opportunity for a thief to break into it. Use a decent lock, not a tiny one out a cracker, that will also deter thieves.

I think there is a way of contacting help if you do get into bother opening your locker but with a decent lock, hopefully you won't need them.

As someone else said, you can carry some bits and pieces around with you, there are gym towels with a zip pocket you could keep your car key in for example.

I used a puregym for about 18 months. Almost everyone used a combination padlock, so you couldn't lose the key. There was a vending machine which even sold them. I went early morning, 6ish and it tended to be quite busy.

I didn't leave much of value in the locker, didn't generally take my wallet in with me and carried my phone to the machines, occasionally using it to listen to music.

Use combination lock padlock. No key to lose.
I go to a Pure Gym. I just take my very minimal personal (keys, phone, wallet) items around with me in a pocket.
  • Used a combination lock - never had an issue

Brought a small bag with me which had wallet and phone. Left shower stuff in locker, don't trust locks, they can be broken into as above

  • Do double check that the padlock you are using on gym lockers is chunky enough to stop anyone turning the handle - smaller padlocks are totally useless on some lockers as the locker can be opened regardless of the padlock being in place - lockers vary enormously so don't assume that a padlock that works in one place will be fine for everywhere else, too!

  • I've had stuff nicked out of lockers in the past...people picked the locks, nicked phones/wallets and locked them back up.

I currently use DW fitness first. They generally all have the need for a padlock- but on odd occasion I've attended without one, I've left bits in locker (clothes, etc) and taken my bag with me to gym floor.

A towel with zip, or small shoe/wash bag can be useful to put valuables in?

I keep my purse and valuables in the boot of my car, and just take my phone into the gym with me. I only use the lockers to keep clothes in.
