Vitality Health Scheme and Fitness Tracker - cycling

Anyone else a member of Vitality Health? They claim that you can get points for exercising to a certain percentage of your maximum heart rate for a certain time https://www.vitality.co.uk/support/vitality-programme/how-points-work/.

I have a Garmin fitness tracker which is linked to my Vitality account, and it correctly gives me points for steps. But I do not get the promised points for raising my pulse alone. This is relevant when I am cycling because the tracker then doesn't recognise steps. I've queried this with Vitality and I was just forwarded to some people in India who were quite prepared to waste my time writing absolute nonsense in the hope that I would go away (which in the end I did).

If I put my fitness tracker in my pocket, or my ankle, when cycling, will I then get the points for steps? I suppose I only have to try, but I just wondered if anyone else was facing this issue.
