Making bars of Chocolate as Christmas gifts.
 I'm hoping to make chocolate bars as small Christmas gifts this year, but am a bit stumped at which Chocolate is the best to use. Also, would I need to temper it? Would the bars not hold their solidity if I didn't? I'd really appreciate any help. I can rustle up a cake and biscuits no probs, but I'm a bit perplexed…

Amazon Price Movements!
Just wondered if anyone has noticed this happening at any other time of the year. I usually add items I think my kids will want (or say they want) to a wish list in the few months up to Christmas, to make sure I have a decent choice when the time comes! Anyway, in the last few weeks I have noticed the prices of some items…

Great cheap Christmas Tree hunt?
Evening! I'm after a Christmas tree to brighten up my classroom and for a bit of Christmassy/subject related homework - I'm going to be paying for it myself, so don't want to pay much for one... I think I remember buying one from the pound shop during my university days (2000ish), but can't really recall all that well. I…

Whats your best Christmas buy?
Hi all, I'm new here, but have spent days reading all the festive threads! I thought it would be nice for us all to share our very best Christmas buy/bargain, as inspiration to others, and as a reminder to ourselves just how rewarding being a super-saver can be! My best Christmas buy is a bundle of Doctor Who figures from…

Tree lights
Possibly a really daft question, but how many fairy lights do you put on your christmas tree? We're going to have a proper christmas tree this year (previously we've had a little fake pre-lit one because we haven't been home on christmas etc) so I need to buy some lights but I'm not sure how many to buy. If you had a 5-6…

What to do with free beauty samples
As the title says really. I've got lots of sachets, packets and trial size beauty samples that have accumulated over the year. Too many for me to use but I'm not sure what to do with them? I thought about 'upcycling' them somehow for Christmas gifts but realise they'd look a bit rubbish (& tight!) just thrown in a gift…

It's my Nan's 80th birthday on New Year's Eve, she is bedbound, unable to move or talk, tube fed etc. She has hearing and vision (although we don't know how good/bad the vision is, she can't see one side so pointless decorating that wall and there's patio doors the other side) and spends most of the time sleeping.…

Game Night Hamper
I'm planning a game night hamper for my brother and sister-in-law this Christmas. I'd been thinking along the lines of one proper board game, 2 smaller games, a deck of cards and a black board for keeping score. I'm really just after ideas of games that would be good for two people. I thought something along the lines of…

Fabric envelopes
I am currently making fabric envelopes for each of my grandchildren. They are made in 1 of 4 different Christmas fabrics. On the front there is a ponytail label which says Santa. On the back there is a sender label which has their name on. The plan is they will put their letter to Santa in it and leave it out for an elf to…

HUGE Polar White Throws
Good people of MSE, I am going slightly crackers. I need a sofa throw around 102x155" and it has to be a nice clean white to go with my Christmas/snowy/wonderland-y kind of look. I can't find one ANYWHERE and it's driving me crazy!!! I thought about just getting fabric and sewing it together but it's coming in at around 60…

Any Gifts that Knitters Would Enjoy?
Hi all! My girlfriend took up knitting some time ago, and it's persisted long enough for me to deem it a genuine hobby, so I'm thinking that this might make for an extra Christmas opportunity! The problem is that I have very little idea what I could possibly get; the only two that have occurred to me are either a design…

Are your Christmas 'Nibbles' Important?
I'm pretty good all year round, I try to be healthy apart from the odd weekend slip up which are few and far between so, come Christmas, I get all excited and get nice munchies. You know the sort of thing, bit of cake, tin of Roses, maybe some crisps, box of Thorntons if I'm feeling flush. It's something I really look…
