we had the aldi 4 bird roast last night and it was naff and serves me right for not reading the ingredients first.
41% chicken with added water 7% goose, 7% duck 22% nasty stuffing + things like more added water oh and added water!:(
not what you would call a treat for xmas.
oh and your challange is to find and taste the 4 different types of bird. ok that was a joke as you will not be able to find 2 let alone 4 as claimed.

We have bought one for New Year - thought it would make a change from Pork.Probably wouldn't have one for Christmas; prefer a turkey crown as it's more traditional
It didn't go down too well in the Daily Mail taste test, the more expensive Waitrose and M&S ones scored best. However, I can't justify 40 odd quid for two and half of us and there is no Waitrose anywhere near us anyhow.
I accept there is a lot of stuffing, but for under a tenner I am not complaining. Perhaps we are unsual in that we like a lot of stuffing so perhaps we will like it, who knows? As to the added water, manufacturers have been doing that for years, even to turkeys. Not just to plump up the meat but to make the joint more moist in texture. How much of the water evaporates off during cooking depends on whether you cook this from frozen as I think you have the option to defrost first and I would always tend to do this.
The three bird roast got a lot of good reviews on here, but I think that was phased out in 2010/2011. The Aldi ones always sell out so obviously someone likes them.
I will report back after New Year.
Anybody else tried it?0 -
Ive had the three bird roast before and it was ok, not easy to carve, tends to fall apart a bit, and the stuffing was a bit sweet, but good for a tenner, makes a change from a bog standard bird.0

I got the four bird roast at the weekend for our Pre Christmas gathering and everyone loved it. Clean plates all round and leftovers for tea on Monday. It was the first time I have bought meat from Aldi but it won't be the last.0

I always say you get what you pay for. For £10, both the supplier and supermarket will be making a profit. As such the ingredients will be stretched as far as possible.
Aldi meat can be very good as I have bought it in the past but you are not the first person to say how awful the 4 bird roast is.0 -

Morrisons have a Frozen 3 Birds Roast that is hand prepared, and seems to be a more natural product. Is a Basted Chicken Butterfly on top, with Winter Fruit Stuffing, Duck Fillet and Turkey Breast. Only £10!0

we had one last year and all loved it. have brought another one for this year0

I often buy chicken and roasts in Aldi and we have been very happy with it. Those who dislike Aldi can always go to Marks & Spencer where they can pay a premium for the same products from a the same factories in different packaging...0
