I opened an Alliance & Leicester esaver back in October last year. I filled out the necessary paperwork so that I wasn't taxed on my interest and they promised to send it off for me. So far nothing has happened and I am still paying tax every month. Shouldn't this be sorted out by now and who would I be best to talk to…

Is anyone else still waiting? we really need the money now…

Index Linked NS&I maturing this month?
On another thread I made the suggestion below and have since taken my own advice. A few days ago I received a maturity letter saying the value on maturity on Feb 10th would be £2047.67. I sent the certificate off to cash it in early and today received £2075.11 in my YBS Internet Saver account. The value of your…

How does the base rate effect savings/borrowing rates?
Hi Guys, Can anyone point me in the direction of a resource that explains in plain English why the BoE base rate effects the rate at which a commercial bank will lend to me? I've seen various explanations of how its something to do with the amount that the BoE charges each of the main banks to borrow money overnight or…

Egg money card (4%) as savings account?
Egg has closed off new applications for the Egg Money card. However for those of us who already have the card - I note that they are still paying 4% on positive balances, which is one of the best rates out there now. Is anyone using this to stash their savings? Any thoughts on pros and cons? I note that Egg is FSCS…

Another rate cut is expected by the BoE, but I was wondering how soon the various banks/building societies cut their rates - is it more or instant/same day ? I want to make a CHAPS payment to nationwide ebond, but no point if the rate will have dropped by the time the money clears

Has Anyone Closed their £100 Co-op Bank current account
Has anyone closed this account - I opened mine because I was fed up with Natwest and the £100 incentive encouraged me. However just after I opened it Natwest offered their 2% bonus for e-savings so it makes sense to stay with them. I can't decide whether to close this account or keep it open until Natwest's bonus offer…

Kaupthing edge full statement?
I've always been worried about KE statements ever since the takeover when they started 'backdating' payments and messing with the dates. Now I find that before AUG 08 I just have "Balance carried forward", and I can't find a way to see transactions before this date. I need to see a full statement to find out how much tax…

old money draft
I've just come across a Lloyds TSB money draft which I ordered way back in 2004 in euros. It was for a night in a hotel but in the end my partner paid for it in cash so it was never used. It's made out in the name of the hotel. Does anyone know if I get it reimbursed or is it too late?
