Train Fares
Why are they so high in Britain? Always wondered. Awful trains, awfully high prices. Is it just that we pay 'British Tax'?

Uxbridge parking
Is there anywhere in Uxbridge cheaper to park for a few hours than the ridiculous Intu car park? Catching the tube to take some kids to Hyde Park xmas market.

Uber and Android Pay - confused
I got a notification in my Uber app that they are doing a promotion until 31 January 2017 where you get 50% off rides (up to £5 discount) if you pay by Android Pay. Sounds great - except I can't see how you actually pay via Android Pay. There's nowhere (that I know of) to tap your phone when making a journey. When I click…

Lost train ticket prior to travel

RailCard
Hi all, I'm 25 (26 in April) with an expiry on my railcard for next week. I've had conflicting reports on getting a railcard. Am I eligible to get a 1 year one? Am I eligible to get a 3 year one? And will they work throughout the expiry period?

London Underground & Android Pay
Apologies if this has already been asked but I couldn't find it on a forum search. I've recently switched to using android pay on my phone in place of my conactless debit card. Its so much easier and feels safer getting through the barriers on the London underground. However, I've just checked my statements on my TFL login…

Chiltern Railways Carnet tickets? Banbury to London
So i'm starting a new job that will involve travel into central london 2 days per week. It looks as though the 2 days travel will cost the same per month as a season ticket would! I've come across the Chiltern Carnet ticket option online and tried to phone up to ask for prices but they don't know them over the phone and…

Oyster card woes
I have a PAYG Oyster card with auto top-up enabled and loaded with a travelcard. I was travelling on PAYG but recently moved and now have a travelcard, so intended to cancel the auto top-up. The funds had just dipped below the threshold that would trigger the auto top-up of £40. At the weekend, I cancelled the auto top-up…

Cycling: Winter tyres, anyone bother?
I was curious if anyone bother with winter cycling tyres, not even for snow etc just for the colder wetter roads? I recently had a cycling accident; travelling approx 12mph, slight down hill. Wet roads, cold evening but not raining, no ice, I dont recall there being any leaves on the road. I applied both brakes to stop…

Discrepancy in the Freedom Pass map.
1st post. I am a Freedom Pass holder and I seem to have found a discrepancy between the Freedom Pass map and the website one is redirected to when one types in freedompass.org (and I can't be the 1st - so forgive me if this topic has been covered before). I wish to travel to Stansted Airport before 9:30am. The maps'…

SWT - penalty letter/prosecution
I travel from my station to Waterloo every day, I have done for the last 6 years and I have had a season ticket for the last 6 years. A month or so ago, I left home as usual, boarded the train at my local station as usual (barriers were open) and proceeded to Waterloo. At Waterloo, I went through an open barrier as I often…

Buying a bike that was bought under Cycle to Work
I'm buying the good lady wife a used bike for Christmas because she has reluctantly agreed to join me and the boy on our weekly bike rides. Not going big because it probably won't last long, and the only purpose is to join us, i.e. she won't go trail riding by herself! We found one on Gumtree that she likes, but the seller…

Oyster in London, is there any way to save a bit ?
Fo anyone who lives and works in London, do you know any schemes or ways to save? I pay £31 for zones 1 and 2 to go to work weekly, I could get the bus pass and save quite a bit but I do have a second job on Saturdays which is quite far from where I live and isn't really flexible... so paying £15 weekly bus pass plus a £12…

Hi guys, I'm actually embarrassed I'm having to write this. I don't travel to London often but when I do I have ALWAYS purchased my ticket on the train as I've always been given the best price/advice (I've been doing this for years). Today I got on the train and was confronted by 3 transport pooice(?) who asked me for my…

Constant delays and cancellation on Southern
We moved to Southern Railways route and now suffering from constant cancellation and delays. Trains are hardly ever on time or are cancelled mid way and passengers offloaded. For example today my husband sent me following text message: "Train was terminated in Purley and next connecting train to Victoria is delayed by 40…

Changing platforms at Paddington
In January I'll be returning from Heathrow and travelling to Cornwall. I'm thinking of taking the Heathrow express to Paddington. I'll need to change from Platform 7 to 9 (or vice versa?) but will have a large suitcase and a rucksack. Does anyone know if there is a lift or ramp rather than stairs? I've had a look at the…

Train station very near M5/M6 with early service to Manchester
Hi :) I need to travel to Manchester to arrive at latest 10am. The trains from the South West can't make it on time so I need to drive part the way and change to a train somewhere from Bristol to Manchester, which means M5/M6. Does anyone have a good suggestion? Easy parking is a must. Bristol Parkway seems to be a bit out…

Underground fares
Hi folks - I'm just back from a long weekend in London, where I used the tube regularly. Tapping in and out with contactless worked well and prices seemed very reasonable, but I got very little information on what costs are for. Looking for somebody to confirm my thoughts here. Friday - arrived Heathrow in the evening,…
