National Express Price Increase

Has anyone noticed the extortionate price increase with National Express. My in laws, who have senior coach cards, travelled from Darlington to Plymouth in December for £98. I've just looked at the price for them to travel in April & have had various prices from £174 to £230. National Express are trying to justify the price increase as that they are increasing prices to overall lower prices. They even tried to blame it on agency drivers & the rent of the bus stop from Darlington Borough Council! I can not believe this increase!

When are they travelling out and returning? It is sometimes cheaper to state date of return than buy an open return ticket.

Not an open return, we always book the dates.

Yes but they have travelled at Easter for the last 15 years and the price has never increased,
they also travel at Christmas and the price has never gone up then either. Unlike the trains, the coach price has usually remained stable.

Sorry, looked at Nat express site and can get tickets for £80-£90 return?? On easter Friday returning easter Monday.

Remember to take out the single default adult remaining in the box?

What days are they travelling???

I dont know why they use a default , have been caught out a couple ot times with it.

They want to travel on Sat 8th April & return on 18th April. They always get the direct coach & the price has always been around £100, whatever time of year we've booked it.

£89.40 for 2 seniors Going via london on the 08.35 on 08/04
Returning 1545 on 18/04 but arriving home at a godawful 0440.
Depends how much stamina they have.

If they can make it to Middlesbrough for the departure (not sure if thats possible / practical) they could get return tickets on Megabus for £69 all in. This would be leaving Middlesbrough @ 10:25am on the 8th, and returning at 8.30am on the 18th from Plymouth.
