I need a single ticket from Victoria to Polegate on Friday 30th December. A single is £29ish whereas a day return (from Polegate to Victoria) is £11ish, can I buy the day return and just use the return part or will it know I didn't use the outward part and not let me come back?

Minefield Rail Fares
What a corruption our British Rail fares and it's subsidiaries are. Booking a simple return from Truro to Taunton in December is £61.00. With some 'Ducking and Diving', I got the fare down to £34.70 and, a free 1st class ticket on one of my journeys! Amazing! It shouldn't be this way, The UK not only has some of the most…

Adjusting bike gears
I'm quite possibly the least mechanical poster on here so please bear with me here... My chain came off last weekend and jammed against something which took a little (but not much) effort to free. I bought a brand new bike online in May 2015 for £330 (reduced from £475 as it was end-of-line) and I was generally happy with it. In June this year (i.e. when it was 13 months old) I took it to a bike shop as the gears were skipping a lot. The bike mechanic measured it and said that the frame was misaligned by at least…
