Apologies if I'm being thick

I'm looking at getting the train to Luton airport from sunny West Wales, for our flights to Edinburgh. Looking at the journey leg details we change at Paddington where we need to get the tube to London St Pancras Intl then train it to Luton Airport parkway...

I apologise if I'm being completely thick but I am very anxious about things like this & I dont want to get muddled, but when I look at the journey on the tubeplanner app it is down as Kings Cross St Pancras - is this one & the same station?

Kings Cross St. Pancras is the name of the tube station, Kings Cross and St. Pancras are separate stations next to each other. When you get off the tube follow the signs to St. Pancras.

Wouldn't it have been easier to fly from Cardiff or Bristol?

You might also want to check National Express coach, it might not be much quicker, but you could get a more direct coach compared to lots of changes on a train.

Thanks Jon, I have looked at National Express, but the journey is 2 hours longer & that's only to London Victoria (without the extra time to make it to Luton). So to make the flight on time would mean having small windows for our change in London Victoria & that would mean running around like a blue bottomed fly!!

    Your journey would be:

Train from Wales to Paddington (operated by GWR)
Go to the Circle line platforms, take Circle line to Kings Cross St Pancras
Go upstairs to St Pancras International, take train to Luton Airport Parkway (operated by either East Midlands Trains or Thameslink)
Take shuttle bus to the Airport

If you buy your tickets to Luton Airport (LUA) station and not Parkway, this will include the shuttle bus.

Have you put your departure/arrival points in Traveline?

When you get to Paddington rail station, consider heading for the Paddington tube station on the Hammersmith and City Line, not the Circle. H&C trains heading East will go straight through to Kings Cross St Pancras. If you take a Circle Line train it will still get you there but you often have to change at Edgware Road, which is the end of the line for a lot of trains these days

They're kind of at opposite ends of Paddington station, so ask someone on the platform gateline to point you in the right direction for whichever you choose. It's usually about 15-20 mins on the tube between the two, although the line often gets snarled up with congestion.
