RailCard

Hi all,
I'm 25 (26 in April) with an expiry on my railcard for next week. I've had conflicting reports on getting a railcard. Am I eligible to get a 1 year one? Am I eligible to get a 3 year one?
And will they work throughout the expiry period?

Yes you can buy one year one (which works for a year) up to the day before your 26th birthday. (You're too late for a 3 year one)0

And it would be fine for the OP to buy one now, and then buy another one the day before their birthday in April next year.
Yes, they would have overlapping validities and it would mean the one bought now would basically only be being purchased for less than half a year's usage, but that still might make sense in terms of the savings gained.0 -
Already been answered here but yes you are too late for the 3 year one. It's been a few years since I qualified for a Young Persons Rail card but I remember being gutted that I'd missed the 3 year deadline by a couple of weeks. I live in Brighton with my OH and we are thinking about getting a two together railcard. For a while I was confused about the cost - I thought it was £30 each! But actually £15 each is reasonable, and we'd make up the cost in savings in no time!0

Go for it, the Two Together Railcard is great.
And if you want you can two-time, three-time, four-time or more with it... i.e. you can be on multiple Two Together Railcards with different people - it's a railcard that can sometimes be worthwhile even for a single trip.0 -
Does anyone know if rail card prices are going up in January?
Mine expires at end december and I then won't use one until Feb at earliest.
I've searched all the railcard web pages but there's no mention of a price rise, just fare increase.0 -

Looking at historic price rises, railcards seem to go up in May and then not every year, the £30 fee was increased from £28 on the 19th May 2013, so you should be ok.
Here is a link to Wiki re the 16-25 railcard, Railcard history0
