Tfl joining two journeys
Hi. I recently travelled with my family to Gatwick airport using Thameslink from Finsbury Park. We caught a train at 19.22 which is outside peak time and used contactless for the fare. To get to Finsbury Park, we caught the tube from a station about six stops away on the Piccadilly line in zone 5. We touched in to that…

Medical emergency on train
Hi everyone, I'm curious as to what you should do in the event of a medical emergency on a train. I would personally avoid operating the passenger alarm unless I had absolutely no other choice, and even then I would rather wait until the next station then pull the alarm whilst the train is between stations. The only…

Today - Connecting train cancelled - help
Committed to travel today, have two children with me. One of my trains has been cancelled preventing me getting to destination via the planned route. This are full paid tickets (not split fares). On the app it says I can use the next train but that will leave us on the station overnight as all trains to that station are…

On the 23/09/2022, I got a train from Birmingham to London Euston, intending to travel onto Norwich using a combination of Advance tickets (splitting at Chelmsford), I got the tube onto London Liverpool Street only to find that my train had left without me. I went to the ticket office there and was told to take the next…

Cancelled train but not informed
Hi all, I purchased Lumo train tickets via Trainline from Edinburgh to London a few months before I travelled. On the day I arrived at Edinburgh station, I saw that my train was not on the board, when I spoke to staff they said the train was cancelled and all Lumo trains were cancelled due to engineering work and that I…

Best time to buy rail tickets
OH has just started to have to travel into London by train semi regularly. Can you please advise if it's only ever the case that ticket prices go up the closer you get to the date of travel and after the cheaper tickets have run out? Do ticket prices ever go down as you get closer to travel dates? We managed to get a…

Delay Repay - How long do they have to process?
Made a delay repay claim to Cross Country on July 10th, not had any response apart from the original confirmation email. Called them today to chase and was told they are currently processing June 20th so its going to be a few more weeks before they even get to mine. Seems like an unacceptable turnaround time to me. I also…

LNER Strike Nov 3rd and Booking.com?
I have had a trip booked to London and back with LNER from Yorkshire for a while and the return journey falls on the train strike. To move my ticket is £227 for both of us and we would need another night in a hotel. LNER app isn't offering any advice or a way to live my ticket without extortionate fees and I can't cancel…

Concessionary Travel Pass advice
Hi, The GP advised my Auntie that she should be entitled to this bus pass below: https://www.tfwm.org.uk/swift-and-tickets/discounts-and-free-travel-passes/get-a-disabled-person-s-pass/ We was advised that the pass works anywhere in England buses. Can the pass be used to travel between English cities by coach or special…

London e-scooter hire - Tier, Lime etc.
I downloaded the Tier app a while back and found it to be unclear about the service. It looked like if you hired an e-scooter in London Zone 2 you were then expected to ride it towards destinations in Central London before you were eligible to park it at one of the scooter hire bays. Is this just the way I read it or is…

Uber... Shady practices?
I booked an Uber on Friday night. A driver accepted, he wasn't far away, then he cancelled on me and I was charged a £4.12 cancellation fee. I went into the app to dispute it, and was automatically and immediately given £4.12 account credit. I know it's only £4.12, but it's the principle for me. They tried to charge me for…

Railcard October discounts: 33% off for digital railcards
(partly posting here in the forum to improve search-ability of a major discount--one that tends to repeat once or twice a year with limited availability--but I also have a follow up question as the first reply) Trainline and Trainpal are offering 33% discounts on most railcards for October (but limited availability so buy…

Avanti train bookings
Is anyone aware why Avanti will not let you book a ticket between London Euston and Chester (though other routes may be affected) from the 22nd October (2 weeks 3 days time)? Can we assume that once they open these up, we will not get charged the fee they normally charge for bookings closer to the dates?

Rail strikes and refunds
I'm probably going to have to pursue a refund for the train strike planned for 18th August, assuming this strike is still going ahead, since it's the day we're due to come back from a trip to London.. What isn't addressed at all in the talk about refunds for trips is the fact that people like myself are going to have to…

School bus pass refused - fuel surcharge
Any advice welcomed here... My sons have to use a bus service which is contracted out by the local council to a private company. The service is appalling - old dirty repurposed London buses in poor repair, frequently late or cancelled as they come from central Birmingham out to us near Stratford-on-Avon and with routes…

Worth the Ombudsman?
I had a return journey booked on Avanti WC. When I got to the station on the day, the National Rail app said the return journey would terminate part way back due to staff shortages. I chose to abandon travel as this would be a problem, and submitted an application for a refund, as you would with any cancellation. I just…
